Spark Plus
I need new secondary (Bottom) sparks plugs. I have Bosch YR6LDE now. What is a good replacement???
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Spark Plus
FWIW... the NGK Iridiums from that list have a 1.1mm gap (the -11 designation). I tried them and they made my R run like poo......
The gap spec is .8mm, and the regular Iridiums from NGK come that way out of the box.....

Re: Spark Plus
I'm using the NGK Iridiums and my bike is running flawlessly. Odd.
Re: Spark Plus
Have just replaced the Bosch secondary with the NGK Iridium due to the bosch running very black. Had the plug foul out about two weeks ago, cleaned ,regapped put im back in and fouled out on me last week after a hi speed run for about ten miles. Replaced with new Ngk's today one step hotter(7). Have not ridden yet but I hope that takes care of issue.

Worked for me....I used the same heat range as the main plug....NGK 7. The Secondary plug stays a lot cleaner, altho not as clean as the Primary.

Re: Spark Plus
One thing to mention, the heat ranges/rating of bosch plugs is different than that of NGK plugs.

So according to this chart, the 6's that are from Bosch and used as the secondary plug seem to be a heat range or two hotter than the Iridiums listed here (and what I am using).

Re: Spark Plus
Strange....
When I pulled the plugs at ~4500mi, I did not like the look of the OE Bosch YR6LDE.... too fouled-looking for me.
My Haynes manual says you can use that or NGK DCPR8EKC...so I went one heat range hotter with the NGK Iridium- DCPR7EI-X.
They do look a lot less fouled, but not as good as the primary. Maybe I'll try -6 next time....

Re: Spark Plus
My bike is R1150R' 2004 (two spark plugs per cylinder).
I have two books describing my bike (Clymer, M503-3 and Haynes, 3466) and they both recommend the next spark plugs:
- Primary: NGK BKR7EKC
- Secondary: NGK DCPR8EKC
But when I checked NGK web (http://www.ngksparkplugs.com), I see that NGK recommends the next type of plugs for BMW R1150R' 2004:
- Primary: NGK BKR7EKC-N (stock number: 2095; Plug gar: 0.032)
- Secondary: NGK DCPR6E (stock number: 3481; Plug gap: 0.028)
The secondary spark plug is different.
So, I'm lost. Whom should I believe? Anyone knows the answer?
Kind Regards,
Apostle

Re: Spark Plus
My R1150R is fitted with a set of Brisk DOR14IR. There are simply fantastic. They are expensive, about $30.00 for the pair, but outstanding Getey-Up, and will last a good 12,000 miles.

I have a 2002 which I just put some NGK 3922's into. Cost me less than $5 for the pair and the bike is running simply fantastic.
