Re: drying your ride
I use a leaf blower to dry mine. I've been told by a trusted BMW mechanic not to use compressed air, because it is too strong and can force water into bearings, etc. The leaf blower works fine. It's dry enough in Utah that heated air isn't necessary. Plus, I already had the blower.digga wrote:Anybody using a blower / 'Air blaster' to dry down after wash or wet ride??

The term "rode hard and put away wet" applies to my bike. Sometimes it's "washed and put away wet", and rarely "washed and ridden dry".
I know, that doesn't help you.

Q-Tips.
I like to blow out the water between the fins with compressed, air turned down to lower pressure, then take it for a ride if possible. The heated engine dries everything up nicely.

I use old towels. Then ride it around a bit if I have the time.

I have a buddy who uses a leaf blower on his GS. I use microfiber towels to dry mine.

+1 (sometimes a regular old towel if the microfiber is in the basement as opposed to the garage.)Buckster wrote:I use microfiber towels to dry mine.

I've used a leaf blower for the past 5 yrs. Dries with no spots.

It seems that over in the 'States the Harley fraternity seem to favour the
Metro Air Blaster.. a 4hp fan which blows air at 29,000ft/min
.
to buy one of these over here ranges between £158 and £170 ( thats if i pick up!!)
Whilst on my web wonder i noted that the same machine is sold as a dog grooming aid for kennels etc.
seeing as the RR has minimal bodywork and chrome in relation to the cost, i think the project/thought has become a none runner
I work for a tool/plant hire Co, so i'll borrow a leafblower and see what happens with that.
You never know i might just come across a redundant compressor one of these days

i use the garden vac/blower and have done on all my bikes work,s a treat no skined knuckes

Re: drying your ride
I use a leaf blower to get most of the water off and out of the hard spots, and then I dry it with a bath towel. No reason to use microfiber on the rockster considering it's a matte black paint!

15 minute ride, if there's no salt on the roads. Any downsides to that?
