Rockster Hand Guards

Post by ROBOX »

Hi all, I want to get some hand guard that will fit my 03 Rockster. I am from the uk and don't appear to be able to source them. Can anybody help and are there any type I should get. Some pics of bikes with hand guard would be good to give me some idea.

Thanks folks have a good weekend

You should be able to get some from BMW that fit a R1150RGS.
I'm not sure, but I think the pair I got was from a 1200GS. I had to modify them a bit with a dremel tool to get a good fit. Others had them fit with no modification.
I don't have any pics of mine, but if you do a search from previous posts, I'm sure you will find some.

I know your handlebars are flatter, but I don't know if that would cause any issues.

Here is one of many past treads on the subject. It has some pictures, including the Tourtech extension to the standard GS handguards that I want to add to mine!

There are other threads about it also.

Bottom line, the GS handguards will work easily.

ROBOX I'm just over the border in W.Sussex, if you need help fitting them let me know.

You need to ask for the R1150GS handguards (NOT the 1200GS guards), and be sure that you are specific on this (Beanie was given the wrong ones when he ordered his). They should be about £35.

You might need to dremel out the guard slightly to provide clearance for the brake hose, but that's all.

Good luck and let me know if I can help. :)

I fit a pair intended for the R1150GS. I had to do a little bit of dremeling on the spot where it clamps to the handlebar (I'd advise you use a wood file for a little more precision).

Also, I needed to shift the switch pods just a tad... snip a zip-tie and move some cables a tiny bit. It all fits, but it's a little tight and fidgety. Enjoy!

I just ordered and fitted the R1150GS handguards myself. The left hand side fits without modification, the right hand side needed a bit of trimming - I used a wood file to make a bit more room for the cables. Some say they made it fit without modifications at all - but in my case there just wasn't enough room for the cables to pass through the guard.

I removed some of the cable strips in order to get it all to fit, and I made all the cables on both sides run inside the guards.

All in all I think it looks good, and the whole job was done in about an hour.
