Going on two pages and no one came up with Waffle Iron? Slackers!
Yup it's the airbox with no filter. Here is what it looked like before vacuuming added the "scratches":

They're not scratches that have been cut into the plastic. They are just marks from vacuuming and cleaning out the debris in the bottom of the airbox.

Seriously, I've been too busy riding to take pics of the bike. No ideas without just picking some random part. I was changing my air filter when I took this one. Give it a try.
