I just can't describe how great they feel going into turns. The stability is there and I find that am taking turns a bit faster than normally, with a total feeling of being within control. LOVE THEM.

Bit spendy though. By the time I had them balanced and mounted, forked out just over 500 of my closest friends. Teary moment. Where's the bike. Tires looked great on the bike. Perhaps a bit bigger than what I had before. Cool.

Went to the mountains today with the GF riding as a 2nd. Beautiful the entire way.

Southwest Moto has the front and rear for just under $260. with free shipping. Did you by any chance buy them through a BMW dealer?

FYI, the best prices I've found lately (mostly because they do not charge shipping OR a handling charge) is from Moto-Sport. They have tires on sale right now- for example Pirelli Stradas are $230 to my door.

I balance and mount my own. Easy to do once you get the hang of it with the proper tools. Takes about 2 hours but I'd rather spend the time than the $$$. I made my own tire changing stand and bought a bead breaker, NoMar bar and a Marc Parnes static balancer.

I used to call around and find the cheapest dealer for mounting/balancing. Then take my wheels off the bike and the new tires to the least expensive dealer. Wheel removal is actually easier to do than you would imagine and all the tools you need are in the tool kit. Eventually I started mounting/balancing them myself.

Taking any bike to a dealer and having them mount two tires, including removing the wheels from the bike will cost a lot. One of the older techs at my dealer said to take the wheels off in the parking lot to save some money.

I completely understand Tony. However, if you do decide to do more than just oil changes on your bike, you'll quickly learn that it is a very easy bike to work on - that is if you can get past the plastic fuel connectors.
I knew nothing about working on cars or motorcycles before I got my 1150. I was a real mechanical rookie. But in an effort to both save money and to get to know my bike better, I decided to do my own maintenance work. With the help of all the knowledgeable contributors to this board, I discovered just how easy it is to work on our bikes. I've successfully completed all the basic maintenance procedures including just recently my first ABS wheel and control brake bleeds. It's been a great experience and it feels good to know I've saved myself thousands of dollars in labor charges these last few years. Of course, all of this also comes at a cost...and that is my time. It's worth it for me but I certainly understand those who do not have the time or the inclination to work on their bikes and would rather pay the dealer.

Anyway, just my $.02

The local Cycle Gear mounts/balances for $20 per plus valve stem, etc.

They charge $10 more per if you didn't buy the tires there. So call it about $70 to mount and balance the two new mail-order tires.

Same here, just had my new Pirelli Strada's mounted,balanced, new stems, $70.00. The shop that mounted them is an independent, and very competent. Local BMW dealer quoted me $180.00 for same service. This is why I am learning to wrench on my own bike.

I just had a set of Pilot Powers mounted and balanced on my wheels (I removed the wheels myself) at a local independent shop and the total was $340 OTD. The wheels come off in a flash, I used the center stand and did them one at a time. I have removed and mounted tires myself before, but I think it is a PITA and worth paying a GOOD shop to do it. YMMV

In my favourite rubber shop a set of expensive 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 slicks will set you back £209 (ride-in, ride-out service, mounted + balanced) - that would be $420 ...

Set of Strada same size will be £169 - $340 ...

have a local independent who was a mechanic at the BMW dealership. quoting me $350. for Conti Road Attacks. dropped bike off and he did the rest, mounted and balanced.

Even here in Chicago I paid $340 to have Pirelli Strada's taken off the bike, mounted,balanced, at an independent. About $90 less than the dealer.(and they will not do other tires, only their's)
