Wobbling clock

Post by Ansink66 »

Hi all :smt039 ,

I just returned from my motorcycle vacation in the “Bayerisher Wald”. Just riding around on my little blue Roadster and enjoying the sights in that part of Germany and a bit of Austria too. And since I was in the area, I also took the opportunity to visit the well-known “Eagle’s Nest” or “Kehlsteinhaus”, as it is known in Germany.

On the ride back to the hotel in “Waldkirchen”, I was doing about 160 kilometers per hour on the autobahn (aprox.100 mph and it’s legal over there!), when I noticed the clock face was wobbling. Not all of it, but just the dial and hands where vibrating a bit to the left and right. Never noticed that before… :smt017

The clock still functions perfectly like it has done since day I bought the R1150R in 2002. :D

Do they all do that? Or is it just the one on my R1150R?

Cheers,

Emile

I've seen another thread on this forum about loose clocks, so it must not be too unusual. Mine was loose, and I found that removing the large flat-headed screw at the bottom and inserting a flat rubber or plastic washer to take up the slack space solved the problem. A garden hose washer was a perfect fit for me.

As Ruddy indicates, there was a thread on this and I'm sure if you search you'll find some good advice.

I had the "dancing dial" happen to me as well. Thought I was seeing things at first. Haven't been bothered enough by the wobbling to do anything more than tighten the hex at the rear of the clock a bit. Need to be careful doing with that since everything is plastic

Hi
I've also experienced the "dancing dials" from time to time. Have you any idea as to fixing the problem? I feel like taking my clock out and fitting an oil temp gauge.
Can you see the wonder of the fairy tale?

I am with you on getting rid of the clock for a temp gauge. Please let us know how it goes, if it goes. 8)

There was a thread on this forum a couple of years ago detailing a project changing the clock for an oil temp gauge. Things turned out very nicely - I think it was a VDO gauge and it was a near-identical match with the other instruments.
You should be able to find it with a search.
