Re: Need new tires....what do you like?
I have been using Michelin Pilot Road tires on many Motorcycles starting with the PR-2's. Running them on a Suzuki SV-1000S, the heavy Kawasaki Councours 1400 and PR-3's on the current Bandit 1250. They have the tire "unicorn" feature of high traction AND high mileage. In the wet they are ...

A soaked cool vest for high heat and a Warm & Safe jacket liner in the cold. Two of the best gear accessories one could have.

Re: Front Shock Cover
I have had Ohlins on my rockster since new and they have been rebuilt about 7 or 8 times and I have never had to replace a shaft on either. No unusual maintence has ever been applied. I like to be able to keep an eye on the shaft for any signs of leaking. Shocks (Front) and Forks get bugs, road gri...

Re: Front Shock Cover
I received the front Shock cover. Easy 5 minute install. there good sized breather holes on the back side. We shall see how it holds up. Also got the used 2004 SS braided brake lines and Hella Horn upgrade done....since they are in the pictures. ;) https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_/photo/AF1Qip...

Re: Front Shock Cover
Well most Neoprene cover are longer than the 11 inch length/2 1/2" Dia. required. I did find this HD Nylon cover on Amazon for under $10. Hoping the print is only on one side ;) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DT8BQB2/ref=psdc_3150551011_t1_B00F9XNBKO Like the fork tubes it would be nice to keep t...

Front Shock Cover
Just wondering if anyone has put a Neoprene wrap/cover on their front Shock? Seems like a good idea to keep the crud off the shaft. I use them on my mountain bike shock and forks. Also on the Sertao rear Shock with no issues. I suppose heat build up may be a concern. The 2002 has such low miles I’d ...

Re: Pilot Road 3
Also have PR-3’s in the Bandit.
Stick like glue and wear like stone, just like the PR-4’s on the Roadster. I will continue to buy Pilot Roads, price be damned.
As a tire supplier at BIR raceway used to say.
“Spend the money on rubber now, or plaster and plastic later”.

Re: Sargent Seat Opinions
Awesome! Thanks guys. I don’t know why I even question it because I have two right now on the Bandit 1250 and Sertao 650. Just wanted to confirm they worked for the R’s. I found a nice used, front and rear for $300. Getting it as much for two up as the drivers section. The stock foam has broke down ...

Sargent Seat Opinions
Since the 2002 stock seat has gotten mushy I'm considering a Sargent replacement.
Anyone else have one for some time? Opinions?
Thank you!

Re: No start in cold
Synthetic oil and a lower first number, 15 or 10 rather than 20 makes a big difference in cold weather. My Truck that sits allot and gets driven in the worst conditions of Winter has 5-30 Synth oil, starts every time. I even run the same oil in my snow blower. A spray of starting fluid can help get ...

Re: Hand Guards
Man those look bright as heck. Love it! What kind of rear view mirrors and screen do you have on there? Thanks, search eBay for 10mm Black universal mirrors, currently under $13 for a pair from China. I did have to trim some thread off and use the stock nuts for clearance. Less vibration and larger...

Re: Hand Guards
The 2002 R1150R had Bark Busters on it. I traded the plastic part out for Acerbis guards with LED lights in them to be more visible. Connected them to the useless running light curcuit in the Headlight shell with no relay. Bark Busters: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPiiYUh3cZIg0fx3JMjHnYZxA5...

Welcome back! Regarding Windshields, this Givi universal came with the 2002 R1150R. I believe this is the model, or it's the AF-49: http://giviusa.com/my-motorcycle/bmw/r1200gs-06-12/af330-airflow-windshield-detail Here's a couple pics, one with and one without the adjustable top section. https://ph...

Re: Gear Selector Indicator
...how do we all feel about the tachometer? Necessary? Truth be told, we don't need any of the instruments but do have reasons for each and everyone of them like the speedo, tach, idiot lights and even gear position, just most of us don't feel the desire to know so much...dumbest bike I ever owned ...

Re: Gear Selector Indicator
Switching between various Motorcycles can be humorous. The Sertao, 5 gears, The Norton 4 gears, The Kawasaki H1 5 gears...all "up".
The BMW is easy to tell by feel and sound for 6th, a true overdrive. The Bandit not so much.
