Re: Oil Filter
Max BMW --- only because you get a bag of M+Ms (Plus the parts guys always have the time to help you out - unlike some other big dealers) IMHO +1. It's not always convenient to get to the shop I purchased my bike from (2 hours away). When I can't, I always buy from Max BMW. I won't lie, A&S has...

Quite possibly the best reply to a "first world problems" thread I have ever seen.I'd like to keep riding for another five years.

Re: Trip meter problem
That's definitely not a common problem. Neither should reset unless they lose power completely. I would guess it's your battery, or possibly a bad switch in the instrument cluster. I think you can go ahead and complain to your dealer, guilt free.

Or you could go to a craft store and pick up a paint pen. Looks like the glue residue will make a perfect stencil.

Re: R1200R Decal just too appealing
You could remove it entirely - blammo! - instant 2010 conversion.
You can order a replacement from your dealer, or online at Max's: Part #s 51 14 7 703 553 and 51 14 7 703 554
Not cheap for a sticker, I'd be inclined to just remove them.

NOOOOO! Traditional turn signal controls, not BMW.... That's a real bummer. Those things always feel flimsy and cheap to me.

Re: Anyone drop/crash their R12R whilst with BMW cases fitte
I've dropped, slid, and been hit with the cases on. They're often described as "bulletproof" for a reason. I've never had one pop off.

Because we were waiting for you to do it - obviously. Conclusion:For the extra light you can get for less than $10 I don't know why someone on the list hasn't done this already.

Re: The new BMW R nineT
I hadn't thought much of it from the spy shots, but having looked at all the photos and videos, I'm rather compelled to buy one. It's got the raw, stripped down look of an Italian bike (like a Monster or Griso) which is the one thing I felt the R1200R always lacked - a bit of sex appeal. I totally a...

Re: Recommend Me a Helmet!
+1 on earplugs. I'd rather have to have my ears professional cleaned out than go deaf. I went looking for a quieter helmet during the winter break. I did a lot of research and settled on the Bell RS-1. I couldn't be happier. It's extremely quiet and comfortable and has an available photochromic acce...

Re: Roadside Assistance
As far as I know, they're all pretty much the same here. They'll dispatch a local tow truck to your location, and you'll be taken to the nearest authorized service location. That's exactly what BMW would do if you called them.

Re: Roadside Assistance
Have you inquired with your insurance company? They may offer roadside assistance coverage that you can add to your policy. Most of the big boys have it.

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!
Unfortunately, due to work, the Appalacia trip I'd been planning for months had to be cancelled. But I was able to throw together a nice five day, fall foliage trip through Michigan (Lower and Upper) and Wisconsin. I moved my time off up to take advantage of the Midwest peak color and headed out. Cr...

Re: Rocky Mountains here I come...but I need advice
I would likely go with the summer jacket with a liner and a sweatshirt or woolen shirt. BTW: Consider taking Rt34 West from Estes and through Rockey Mountain National Park, it would be a shame to miss that ride seeing that you will be right there. +1, +1 I was there in late spring. Temps ranged fro...

Come on guys...... It does not matter what bike you own or how you use it. No combination of those two things is any better than the way anybody else chooses to enjoy motorcycles. No one has to apologize for buying a bike and using it how they see fit. Garage queen or epic world traveler, there is ...

Re: Anyone tried the new Tourance Next?
I don't expect any tire on the R to be much in that regard. I'm not really looking for a tire that'll handle nasty stuff, but I am a little concerned about the direction "dual sport" tires for larger bikes are going. They seem to be catering more and more the GS/Multistrada wannabe crowd ...
