Just-Beeming If you have lowered your bikes suspension (i.e put on shorter shocks, springs or even installed lower profile tires) it will be more difficult to put it on the centerstand. My bike was a bear to get on the centerstand when I had a flat last year. Still, that wouldn't effect getting it o...

Warning!
I have heard that your (tire) valve stems wont seal properly if you switch to synthetic air before reaching 10,000 miles.
And I know this is a touchy subject but I have decided that I will never own another bike without a servo-activated kill switch.
That was me. (Kabusa)

A thunder storm was just about over top of me as I walked out of work in the late summer of 1994. This used to make for an exciting ride for me, because if I really hauled butt I could ride west for five minutes down a twisty, hilly farm road before heading south for a bit and finally backtracking e...

How does the state pay for free training? Is your choice funded by every PA tax payer or just by PA motorcyclists? Guest05, You are paying an additional fee for that choice. And of course fatalities would be up, on increased ridership alone. That is also a potential cost each individual who rides in...

I want to add some thing here. If a motorcycle accident causes you to go to the doctor or to the hospital, it costs somebody money. It may be an insurance company, or it may not. Hospitals run on money, like any other business. I think we can all agree on that. A hospital, like an insurance company,...

Joan Claybrook, head of NHTSA actually said helmet laws prevent accidents? Or is it you? Just to clarify: So you (and I) believe that rider training prevents accidents. And you believe that helmet laws prevent accidents. That is the only way that this: State approved motorcycle rider training has PR...

State approved motorcycle rider training has PREVENTED more motorcycle related accidents then all of the helmet laws since 1966.
Who the heck said helmets laws prevent accidents?

Just when I think I might be seeing your point, you say something like this which makes absolutely no sense.

According to the NHTSA 52% of all motorcyclists killed in M/C related crashes in 2002 were wearing a helmet. It seems those helmets failed to save lives, eh? I am no mathmatician, but that number (52%) makes little sense if you don't state what the percentage of motorcyclist wear helmets. If only 2...

How to Recognize a Stroke: Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. A stroke victim may suffer permanent brain damage when people fail to recognize what's happening. Now, doctors say any bystander can recognize a stroke, simply by asking three questions: * Ask the individual to smi...

Dallara, If Honda would build a oval piston turbocharged 400cc V-tech V3 with 120 HP and wrap it in a 275lbs Supermoto chassis with a 16 inch front wheel and side mounted radiators, the AMA would bend over backwards for your proposal. As long as said Honda was allowed into the open class, and provid...

Yes!!!!

Dallara, like the Titanic, most of us know what happened with the NR-500 (in the GP series, at least). But your insight and story telling make this post a must read for (just about) any bike nut.
I am looking forward to the rest of the story.

Thanks Dallara, This era was just before my time, but my first bike was a 1974 XR-75. I can see some of it in these bikes, in some of the details. Honda just facinates me. The motocross stuff too!!! I have been reading your NR-500 posts as well. Those I remember!! I was all of 13 years old and a Rob...

And don't forget the SBD - creates a blue sheet of flame!
Sorry I missed that Bob, you are right. I believe the SBD and the dry fart are of the same family.

What happens if our bike gets too close to a naked flame...is it possable to light one up???...
I think you would have the best chance with the 'dry fart'. I believe the 'wet fart' and the 'fart with lumps' are too 'rich' for ignition.

JCsman, I too prefer the 'dry fart', but the safty issue, I assume, is for being noticed by other motorists. In my opinion most people will give a 'wet fart' sound more space than a 'dry fart sound'. Sure it may be a small difference between the two, but every little bit counts!   :l...
