Re: My ride to the island for the world supa's.

Thanks DJ for the story, great as always. I was in Australia for my honeymoon, 12/30-1/15. Thought about you when I saw oilhead's on the road from Melbourne to Sydney. That leg of the trip along the south east coast was a stunner. You are a lucky man and beautiful land

Re: Difficulty changing gear

No the tranny fluid contaminates the clutch fluid as I recall. which means the fluid as well as the slave cylinder will need to be replaced.
Do a search on clutch slave cylinder and the threads will bring you up to speed, including my experience with the local dealer on this issue.

Re: Difficulty changing gear

Look out for a clutch slave cylinder that is on its way out or gone already! Once the seal between the tranny and the clutch cylinder leaks, down shifting gets difficult. My slave cylinder failed just two months after changing the clutch fluid. Cycle Rob wrote up a procedure for tipping the bike and...

Nice pics and report DJ. It seems looking at a map, that the Snowy Mts are quite a ride south of Sydney. How many kms did ya do each day?

I use Marmot silk weight long underwear. This stuff wicks great, has the silver function which keeps it fresh for a couple days, and is actually cooler than with nothing. The new Bamboo carbon stuff that Columbia and Patagonia sell is also good.

Stay cool then warm

Nicely Done!!! I wonder if I would like my BMW high wind screen if it was at this more upright angle. Curious, what did you use as a template for the side curves, Coca Cola bottle or Carmen Electra's waist? :smt078

Tip overs are going to happen. I used a fat black sharpie and colored up my end weights after hitting it with 600 grit. Remember only you will "see" the scratches. Everyone else will still just say... "Wow, nice bike", fixed or not
