Re: R1100RT ABS--At wits end
On my last ABS R 1100 the ABS unit went south to replace the unit 2K for a bike that was worth 2K to 3K dose not make sense. So it was not worth it, even for a used abs unit.So I pulled the ABS bulbs and relay you know what the bike stopped fine but no ABS that's all. As long as the braking system i...

Re: spokes or alloy?
one other point a spoke wheel can not be plugged it has to be broken down and the tube patched as a mag style wheel can be plugged with out removing the wheel from the bike. I had a flat at deals gap South Carolina on my ultra classic plugged it spent a week riding the dragon and the skyway and made...

Re: R1200R to R1100R?
Basically you will be hit and hit hard on the loss due to deprecation of the 1200 but the short term loss may be better the the long term loss of income on the possibility of credit being harmed and more importantly having cash in your pocket while redirecting your working life. If you look hard you...

Re: Dead battery
You might want to consider a battery tender it will keep the battery at a constant state of charge. The nice thing about the tender is it will not over charge the battery. I have all my bikes plugged in to battery tenders and all are ready to ride any time of year.

Re: First gear hard to engage
Here a trick that that works for me, My R1100 R 9 out 10 times will be reluctant to shift in to first gear. At a stop light I just roll the Bike back about three or four inches and will have no problem shifting in to first. Its done this since the day I bought the Bike.

Re: tighten and torque any used bike you buy
Yes the 4 lug bolts worked there way loose. When I bought the bike there was a brand new tire on the rear the tire still had the molding nubs. I stupidly assumed it was installed properly I was wrong. The bike is just about back together , rear inner fender off of e-bay, new directional's and I have...

Re: 2000 R1100R rear turn signal replacement?
Update on the Baja Turn signals. It turns out with the saddle bag rack the rears are about an inch too short the fronts look and work well. I was lucky and found a complete rear fender with stop light and directional’s. Stupid me I did not take in account the length of the studs I went on the overal...

Re: Your thoughts on upgrading to an R1100R
I have an 1100r and a Harley Ultra Classic and it’s the best of both worlds. I actually bought the beamer to split up the mileage I am putting on the Harley and I needed a new toy. If you liked the 850 you will love the 1100r in a lot of ways the beamer is superior to the Harley. In Suspension and h...

Re: 1996 R1100RT dashboard flasher indicators stuck on
You may have tried this and I have not tried this on my r1100 but on my harley ultra if you hit both buttons at the same time it will activate the flashers and to shut them down you have to hit both buttons again at the same time to deactivate them

tighten and torque any used bike you buy
On Thursday October 30, 2008 I lost the rear wheel on a BMW R1100 I had purchased a week earlier. I had put about four hundred miles on her. The incident occurred on Rt 27 in Sherborn Ma heading toward Holliston Ma. I was traveling at approximately 35 to 40 mph when the rear wheel came off. I landed...

Re: 2000 R1100R rear turn signal replacement?
I had a crash that destroyed two of the turn signals and to replace the stock signals cost a bloody fortune (just the lens and housing for one directional is about fifty dollars not including the stem). I replaced all four with Baja Design turn signals. These look very close to stock but are a bit s...

Bargain Outfitters sells fleece lined jeans these are really warm and much better than flannel lined. I use these all winter long. Widder Electric is retiring in December and his electric gloves can be had pretty inexpensively on EBay for about seventy five to eighty dollars for me these are a must ...
