John: i plugged the vest (and had gloves) all last winter into the accessory socket. i bought 2in velcro in a strip and rigged that around my left thigh. then i put the wires and thermostat thru that and take up the slack. the 'stat stays right ontop of my thigh where i can modulate it, etc. you can...

my R came w/ z4's, which squared off a bit at about 6K mi. Now on second set of pilot roads--used them all winter and summer. good grip and no squaring off (although maybe i'm riding more aggressively ?). i may try z6
next as they seem to be a popular choice: z6--better grip; pilots--better wear?

Thanks, all for the great advice. I rode in at 5:30a to work--about 23 degrees. I'm using the roads i know (wouldn't take a ride in the country right now!). Great comments. I'll keep you informed.
