I had one hit me in the head earlier this summer. Luckily, I was wearing a helmet. As I park in a lot just about every day, I am now very conscious to keep moving quickly through the gate -- never stop until I am fully clear. The weight/metal on the R1150R just isn't enough to keep the sensitive sen...

I'm glad you're OK. Having an accident certainly gives you perspective, especially when you have young kids (I have three ranging from 1-7). Whether you get back in the saddle is obviously a very personal decision. Don't do it if you won't be able to focus again 100% on the ride. Also, I highly reco...

I think that the R1150R is a great first road bike. I also live in the Chicago suburbs and commute to work in the city on it almost every day during the spring and summer. It handles well, is well-balanced, does well in traffic, and is great on not-so-perfect roads (and in the rain). I have two othe...

I have a 2004 Porsche 911 (996) Cabriolet which allows me to have fun on those days when riding is impractical.

Re: BMW Rainsuit

The BMW one piece rainsuit is pretty good, I got mine on sale for $80 at Cliff's BMW in Danbury CT. Kept me bone dry coming back to NJ from the MOA rally in OH. Easy to get on/off, fits over gear, has reflective stripes. Packs small. I agree. I carry it with me all the time, and it has kept me dry ...

I have the PIAA 1100X installed with RCU Brackets. I use them day and night. They light up the road far better than the high beams on the R1150R -- both in terms of distance and in terms of width of the beam.

My name is Steve, and I am 36 years-old. I have been a member here for about a year, but I haven't posted much as I am not all that mechanically-inclined. I have tried to post whenever I can offer insight into my riding experience. I recently came back to motorcycling after a hiatus of 18 or so year...
