Now there's the answer I'm looking for. So did you loosen the nuts, re-oil them, torque to spec, then go 185 degrees from there; or did you just twist another 5 degrees from where it was? I have a Leo on my 98 GS. W/ ear plugs in I can just hear it going down the freeway at 70~80mph. Pretty loud when on the gas. The exhaust tip ends a bit short of the turn signal so my left signal is a browner orange than my right. I have since added an extension. W/ fuel map relay removed..no poppin...

My rt. side head gasket was weeping.
Head retorque (I added 5 degrees to the 180 final turn) and she is dry.

Try removing the fuse for Motronic (it may be #5), turn key to on position and turn throttle to full on/ off twice. Turn off key and reinsert fuse. Remove the 1st relay for fuel mapping (actually it is just a jumper) and jump terminals 30, 87a and 87 (stock mapping). I forget how to but you can also...

gas mileage improvement?
OK this is for a 1100GS but the two are the same no? :D I am getting 39 at the best and ~35ish w/out being careful. I used to milk close to 60mpg out of a weestrom and sv650 so I am eliminating my right hand as the cause. tire pressures...36f/39r air filter new plugs new TB synched valves set tranny...
