I was talking about the tachometer, Most fuel injected bikes the tach needle does a sweep as the key is turned on. I can't remember if beemers do this. I think Oliver pretty much answered your question already, but I know what you're talking about and there is no needle sweep. Not on my '97 anyway....

Lots of potential issues riding in the rain, but as far as visibility goes I've had more problems with fogging than the actual raindrops. Dang. Good advice, but pretty scary that she defaults to the idea that we should wear reflective gear instead of thinking maybe she (and others) shouldn't be operating a 3000+ lb projectile if they don't see very well. It must be just as difficult to see pedestrians and cyclists.

For all of you experienced users out there, how hot are they in the summer?

They are pretty hot, but wearing appropriate socks makes all the difference. I like these in the crew length for summer.
