Re: Warped Brake Rotors at 6K Miles

I had warped rotors and a warped wheel on a previous BMW and the procedure at that time was it needed to be reported within the first 4k miles and then it was covered. Seems like if they have a known issue on the 12R as Don says you should be covered anyway. My bike had 13k miles on it when it was ...

Re: Warped Brake Rotors at 6K Miles

Has anyone else had this problem? Dealer says that BMW considers them "wear items" and won't cover them under warranty. Sounds like BS to me. That's crap. Sounds like the exact same issue they were having with the R1200RT and some other hexhead bikes. My '05 had warped rotors which would ...

Re: Got my insurance bill and I'm not happy. Alternatives?

I'm with Dairyland at the moment and the new bill is $918 per year. That's with a big deductible and full coverage. I know comparing insurance rates can be hard but I'd like some recommendations for insurance from the folks here. I'll check with State Farm because I have my cars through them but th...

Re: R1200R vs. R1200RT

I like: no fairing, tubular handlebars, single round headlight, big boxer engine. What are my choices? Tubular handle bars and round headlight, Those are some of the main reasons I picked the R1200R. If the R1200RT were not uglier than the R1150RT the choice might have been less easy. Mark In all f...

Re: R1200R vs R1200GS

I currently own an '07 GS Adventure and an '07 R1200R. I have not owned the R1200R very long but it is the the best BMW bike I have owned (best bike I have ever owned). My first ride on an R1200R was on an Arkansas trip and I swapped my '05 R1200RT with my buddy's '07 R1200R and we went like bats ou...

Re: Batteries and battery chargers

Knocking on maple grained formica(tm).. I have never used a charger on the R1200R - and it's at 28,000 miles and change today on the original battery. It has rarely sat for more than a week without riding - but a few longer car vacations did leave it for a few weeks. I probably have, and use more e...

Re: Batteries and battery chargers

Yes, AGM, at least mine. On a different note: the manual makes a big deal of not to charge the battery while connected to the bike. As far as I am concerned, doing just that is exactly the point of having a battery tender, and I have done that with my other bikes. However, the BMW might have more e...

Re: BMW Battery Charger Error with Switched Accessory

I use a relay for my Sargent Heated seat on my '07 R1200GSA. My charger also goes into error mode. It has worked fine on a stock K1200GT and stock R1200R. The relay is powered by the accessory plug, so it doesn't power off immediately. Never had a clue why until I was getting this error until I read...

Re: F800ST to R1200R?

I'm going to test drive the R1200R next weekend. Thanks for the encouragement, Jeff I have a R1200GS Adventure and its motor is fantastic. I added an R1200R to the stable yesterday it seems to have a lot more power than even the GSA. I rode an F800S last week at my local dealer. It is a great bike ...
