Re: Short in wiring harness

Been there done that. I waited until a few lights were on the blink. The high beam indicator, right turn signal indicator and ABS light were out. When I cut into the harness I found nine wires broken or nearly broken. Grab each wire and stretch it. The copper will break but the outer insulation will...

Re: Age of new tire?

=D> Thanks for the replies. I really did not cherish the idea of shipping a tire back. Already installed the rear and will do the front this week. I was very glad for the new shoe as all the rain last week washed lots of gravel onto the backroads. A definite help with "moonwalking". :D

Age of new tire?

I am a newbie, well maybe reborn biker. After 30 years out of the saddle I purchased a '04 Roadster. Almost six thousand miles later I am still in disbelief how well this bike performs it's duties. :D But after the miles it's time for tires. This is my question. How fresh should a new tire be? I pur...

Re: Why a high-speed wobble as rear tire wears out?

Just replaced my Z6 as it also squared off in the center. About three hundrd miles after squaring off the cords showed their ugly face. Made for a tense ride home. I bled about 10 psi out of my tire to relieve the load from the center of tire and limped home. Part of the learning curve I guess.

Re: Flyscreen Removal: wind buffeting gone

I went down the same path. New rider who thought all was well until mounting a Honda VFR. Wow, no buffeting. Removed my flyscreen and rode for a couple of months in non-buffeting bliss. After tiring of excercising my stomach at highay speeds I scored on an old Wudo fairing. Classic cafe styling and ...

Re: Compression check .... Uh Oh!

As far as worrying about an ignition coil firing without a plug, it's safer to create a path for the spark than letting it "fly". Without a sparkplug the energy buildup in a coil is much higher. I have seen it done a hundred times without ill effects but you don't want to be the one who ge...

Re: Rear seat eliminator?

I've looked at aftermarket such as the hard cover for the seat. Already tried the Ztechnik which offers reasonable storage capacity. Seems like a very small space under the stock seat. If the seat could be removed there would be more options for storage if that space could be incorporated. I guess I...

Need storage for hopefully never used tools, air compressor, tire repair kit, etc. Daily commuter and weekend fun giver. Being an auto tech. handy with repairs just...

Re: Muffler Removal - a Definitive Answer (finally!)

Hi guys, New to this site and my first bike in 30 years, a 04 R1150R. This thread caught my attention. I may be sticking my neck out with the closed loop/open loop theory but here goes. I am an auto tech with thirty five years experience and my understanding is open loop is when the oxygen sensor is...
