Re: 12-6 / 3-9 FD BearingBlues.....
jm1515, I'm pretty sure my problem is the pivot bearings, as I can hold onto the swingarm, and grasping only the final drive casing, push to and fro, up and down (hard) and get a "click, clunk or pop" whatever you want to call it. It's the same exact noise as when grabbing the tire itself,...

Re: R1150R - for a tall guy?
Charles, I recently bought my 2004 R1150R (Black ABS) about 2 months ago now. I've had a time trying to make it fit my 6'2" frame. Mine came with a low seat on it (780mm) I tried a standard (800mm) seat, not quite tall enough, now I have the high (820mm) seat ,with also a sheepskin pad on top, (...

Re: 12-6 / 3-9 FD BearingBlues.....
I have the same movement in my rear wheel. I've talked to several "guru's" on the various nets, and all seem think FD pivot bearings.(My rear wheel feels totally smooth upon rotation). My bike only has 7k miles, and I can't believe it would be the FD wheel bearings. I am going to replace t...

Ron, if you could stand a trip of 350 miles, take it up north to Ted Porter's beemershop in Scotts Valley. I'm sure they could cure your problem-Glenn.

Re: Ordering Parts - Chicago BMW
Try Hammersley BMW ,Lynchburg, Va. I had to get a seat shipped from Germany, as the US warehouse was out of them. I had it in my hands in less than 3 weeks, and was discounted also! Talk to Ben Burris, he knows his stuff. My 2cents.-Glenn

Re: Bike won't start, blinkers won't cancel.
You most likely can't remove outer covering anyway, as they slide this on, then install the plug end. Just carefully cut the covering, then wrap it up in tape after the repair. To remove the switch casings, you must remove the mirror, then there's a screw behind it (small), then the big black screw ...

Re: Brake fluid change.
Where did you read that synthetics shouldn't be used? I just renewed my entire brake system (ABS) and clutch with the Castrol GTLMA synthetic based (made in Germany!)fluid. It says right on the bottle that it's fully Dot 3 & 4 compatible and recommended for ABS systems. My BMW dealer uses this, ...

Re: Steering damper removal?
Must not need one anyway-my 2004 R1150R didn't even come with one. Why all the fuss? I'd really like to know. Did they change ball joint or top steering bearing or geometry so they could eliminate the damper? -Glenn.

Re: Idling procedure
The BBS don't keep the butterflies open, that is an external stop screw on each throttle body that does that (don't adjust these!). The BBS are an air adjust screw, more air= faster idle. They control the air the motor runs on before the butterflies open and take over. Just like the idle air control...

Re: Rear Tire: Weird Line
I've got Michelin Pilot Road tires (single compound) on my bike. They exibit a mold mark or "seam" on both the front and back tires that goes all the way around the tire. I've seen it many times, but only on Michelins as far as I can remember-nothing to worry about.

Jml, you are lucky that your dealer is only 25mi. away. Mine is 53mi. away and i'm in a like/dislike relationship with them. They at least remember my name now when I walk in. Might be the same name they use for toilet paper when i'm not around!!! Good luck-Glenn.

Re: Just put down a deposit on an 04 R1150RA!
Jml, that is a LOW seat (780mm) on that bike. I have one on mine (that's way to low for me), and I ordered the intermediate standard height one (800mm). If it's still to tall for you, I believe you might be able to remove the factory spacer block from beneath the front mounts, or maybe install a thi...

One last post. Apparently it was the cheap digital multimeter I was using. Got ahold of a nice analog (meter) unit and am able to check battery voltage with out the fuse blowing! I file 13'd the digital multimeter! Thanks!

Re: 2004 R1150R thoughts on fuses
Yeh ,I don't get it either. I did insert probes of voltmeter into the tender lead plug-not the accessory socket itself. One thing-the leads on the voltmeter were plugged into the unfused side-maybe there in no resistance to the meter and it acts like a dead short? You think it would have fried the m...
