Re: Ear Plugs

When I first became a "re-entry" rider about 8 years ago, I tried earplugs and had a difficult time getting used to them. Now, I can't image riding without them. I tried using earbuds and I had to have the music turned up so loud I was still wore out from the noise. Then I bought a pair o...

Re: Valve adjust help

The rubber piece pushed right through and fell in!!! Now what do I do? -Erik Iowabeakster gave good advice, but he left out one step that I used after dropping mine down the hole. I stuck a piece of duct tape over the hole so nothing decided to move. I think it came off during the next rainstorm I ...

For that reason I find I have to keep a closer watch on the speedometer since I hear less motor and wind noise and don't think I am going as fast as I really am.

Re: leaking final drive

Terry-- I for the longest time did not realize how the vent comes off. It just pulls straight up. Took a small knife blade and got under it and popped it up. Be careful not to cut the o-ring that seals it to the housing. I used a pair of surgical tweezers to get hold of the filter element and pull ...

Re: Leaking rear drive

I beleive the oil soaked filter would not allow air to properly vent from the final drive and when it got hot instead of air simply venting, the pressure caused oil to vent instead which would just magnify the problem. Wayne I have a leak in my final and I pulled the abs sensor a couple of times lo...

Re: Gulf Coast Riders

I am north of the Gulf a couple of hundred miles near Jackson, MS. We didn't take a direct hit, but still only got power back the other day (some that I work with still don't have power). There are long lines for gas and the shelves are getting bare at the grocery stores. All of that should clear up...

Re: Do they replace spark plugs at 6000, or 12,000 mile serv

I realize I should've asked when I had both done but now I am thinking - with a longer trip at the end of next week, should I replace my plugs? Chris I run Autolites in my R1100R. I changed them with 15,000 miles on them the other day and I don't see why I couldn't have run them that much longer if...

Re: Pfeww

They test the Metzeler Z6 as the best handler and as overall winner. The Michelin Pilot Roads are a good second and score very consistent. Second best handlers after the Metzelers and win from the Metzelers in the longevity area. Too bad they didn't use a R1150R for the test, cause that might influ...

Great write up. A 50cc is on my list of things to do. Your pictures brought back memories of my trip in 2004 to Las Vegas whee I rented a R1150R for a couple of days and took day trips to Zion NP in Utah and also cruised Lake Mead. Never did have the time between meetings to make it to the Grand Ca...

Thanks for the comments you'll. Mark it is too bad I will not be making it up your way to collect some national park stamps. Maybe in a couple of years.
