Have a skid plate on my '02 which was a stock GS plate. Fit no problem. I got it for the same reasons: dirt roads and flying rocks. Sheepskin seat cover
Anyone have any experience with sheepskin covers. Own a tall stock seat and butt does get sore after an hour or so of riding. Sheepskin seems like an inexpensive alternative to after market seat.

Who was it that made a windscreen that used the same brackets the stock fly screen uses? The fly screen does a great job at protecting my tach and speedo from the wind but does not do much for me. I am looking for much more protection for the fall when the temps drop. Would prefer to have a tall win...

First Gear textile for me because it comes in TALL sizes, pants and jacket. Also like the feature that the jacket and pants will zip together. The zip-in liners are nice, too. They are suppose to be waterproof but you will still need a rainsuit if you are going more than 50 miles. Overall, satisfied...

Bike is fine on hard-pack dirt roads and you can adjust the shock for the bumpy ones. Agree that trying to make the R into a dual sport is a bad compromise.
