Re: Brake servo loss
I can't speak to the feasibility of the signalminder causing your servo fault, I thought that these faults were limited to the realm of the ABS pump and its sensors but I had a similar problem on my 2004 RR around 12k... On starting the bike sometimes ABS would come up and sometimes it would not. So...

Re: Wilbers users, a fitting ?
I mounted mine in the spot you're talking about but I removed the charcoal canister early in the bikes life. Search around a bit, there are plenty of threads on the subject between here and ADV.

Re: Front shock install
When I bought my wilburs from ted porter he advised using a quick blast with a pneumatic gun to get the front shock on so that you are turning the bolt rather than the entire shock assembly as you tighten it...I didn't have the tools so I did it the old fashioned way, but it's something to think abo...

Re: Front shock install
You'll have to pull the tank to really get at it, you can slide the tank back to get at the top of the shock mount but you still have to do all of the same steps to get to that point so in IMO you might as well just get it out of the way. Two fuel lines, fuel pump electrical connector, vent hoses......

Re: ZTechnik exhaust on 1150R-how loud?
I read that someone used the oem muffler with the cat replacement pipes and no mention of a diameter change... Also, I have read the threads using various exhaust arrangements . You might want to look around for a remus y-pipe, it might be the y-pipe that was used with the oem can if not the ztechn...

Re: ZTechnik exhaust on 1150R-how loud?
I have a used system in mind for my 1150R and want better sound, not more. It comes with the cat eliminator pipes so it could be used with the OEM muffler too. Your opinions please & thanks! I have a ztechnik titanium can and y-pipe on my R, picked up used from someone who pulled it off their G...

Re: Anyone Own A Parabellum?
I have a Parabellum Scout with the 10" and 20" screens. I can't ride with the 20" because it doesn't nothing but direct all of the air at my head...the 10" stays on year round. I'm 6'3" so YMMV.

Re: 12k Service Cost
Jim von Baden's instructional DVD's were what helped push me over the edge and gave me the confidence to do my own services having watched it a couple times. For me it was one thing to read the different guides and look at the pictures and totally different to watch the video of someone doing it. Mo...

Re: Let's make a list of big $ repairs
The next thing to do is to decide whether to try to hit 100k miles with it, or to buy a Honda and start over. Any suggestions I'd have a hard time putting $3700 into my 2004 with 25k let alone 88k. I'm on my 3rd FD seal, can't wait to see how that unfolds with everyone's FD's failing at 20k-somethi...

Re: 2004 R1150R Transmission lube quantity 0.85Q or 1 quart?
You kind of can't overfill them...when you've filled up the tranny/FD it will start running down the side of your bike and dripping on the floor. For the sake of argument and so you buy enough oil to do the job it's 1 liter in the tranny and 250ml in the FD.

Re: missing stock luggage rack :(
The PO of my bike installed the OEM bags and a Givi topcase, I have no complaints. If I were doing it for myself I would look into the Caribou Cases @ http://cariboucases.com/ You probably want to give them a call to talk about fitting the R1150R. I know they make everything to fit GS's so it's just...

Re: ABS dead
Sweatmark's thread is an excellent read, also search through http://www.advrider.com and http://www.ukgser.com for more peoples' opinions. If we're taking a poll here, when my ABS pump fails I'll have to pull it out, replumb the brakes, and rewire the brake lights. $2500 is too much money to pour in...

Re: how do these plugs look?
I wondered the same thing when I got the plugs and after looking through a few manufacturers websites it seems that the dual electrode plugs are sold pre-gapped from the factory. I couldn't even check the gaps with my old-fashioned gapper so I'm hoping they're correct. Question: how does one gap plu...

ABS Switch
In the R1150R to Prudhoe Bay thread I was asking/talking about how to turn off ABS on the R, found some people who had wired a switched relay in line with power to the pump to turn ABS off and on "on the fly". That thread is here: http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18005 I...

You can say that again. I was looking at it thinking "I want mine to look like that" and now that my Parabellum has seen the sharp end of a rock and two birds it might be time for a change. To be clear, this is the BMW tinted sport shield or the ceebailey/other manufacturer? And one super ...

Can anyone tell me which windscreen this is? My Parabellum is pretty much beat to pieces after a rock and two birds...it's time to start looking for a replacement.

Re: how do these plugs look?
As an edit...I checked my records and these plugs actually only have 8k on them as I did my 12k service a little late and am doing my 24k service a little early because I plan on being on the road when the bike turns 24k. I now wonder (a little more than I did before) if the dealer that did the 12k ...

Re: how do these plugs look?
The two different plug brands are standard for the bike: 12127653771 - spark plug (BKR7EKC M14)...NGK 12127681415 - spark plug (YR6LDE M12)...Bosch I'll look into the Autolites the next time around but I already had replacement NGK and Bosch plugs for this service.
