i found the cause. one of the connections has a broken cable.

Rev Counter not working...

hello,

hope you can help a brit with failing electrics.

i am a 97 r1100r owner.

when i switch on my head lights. the rev counter drops to a maximum of 2000 revs.
switch the lights off and the rev counter acts in the normal fashion.

i know that this is an old post and the problem is probably resolved by now, but the tale that you relay is exactly like mine. it turned out, in my case, to be a weak battery. i spent many pounds at my local bmw garage having the abs checked yet they failed to spot a dry cell in the battery. bottom ...

thanks for the information. the idea that the bmw rack cracked is a little bit of a concern because the givi rack is not as cosmetically pleasing. in the meantime i have been looking at a touratech solution. again, straying from the standard bmw looks, but more practical with the top loading panniers.

Rear Rack for 1997 R1100R

Hello All,

I am looking to fit a rack on my 1100r. It already has a set of BMW panniers fitted with the standard grab rail. Can anyone tell me which rack I should use?

1100r the only way to fly
