So, stripped it all down this afternoon, and pulled the caliper to bits. The pistons are fine - one of them has a small amount of corrosion on the side, which I'll need to keep an eye on, but it's not bad enough to warrant replacement. The seals look fine, and there is no muck anywhere behind them. ...

I think thats the next job tbh. Will have the caliper off completely and disassemble. I see there is a repair kit available which is nice.

Has anyone had the delaminating hose issue with the braided hoses that came standard on the 'R' models?

Cool, thanks everyone. Another friend has offered me the loan of a decent padlock and chain for the trip - my cover went AWOL last time we had some high winds, though it was only a very cheapy one. Might be worth another one just to get it out of sight.
