Re: Stage 1, project "The Shelter Dog" R1100R
Its a long story about the engine work, but I will try to make it short. PO punched a hole in the lower case (off roading on an 1100) thus running it out of oil. I knew this before I bought it. Case was repaired. Test ride before purchase showed no sign of bearing wear. I ran it for 3 months before ...

Re: Stage 1, project "The Shelter Dog" R1100R
I take it that the new exhaust eliminated the O2 sensor? Could not tell by the pics? What is that device sticking out between the tach and gauge cluster, GPS antenna, radar detector? I like the color, and a brownish color for the seat will look awesome. I have a 96 R and it is the best handling bike...

Re: Starting Very Rich
Once warm it runs great. Drivablility is excellent. Just the start up is embarassing. Has done this for the time I have owned it. The P.O. said he had issues with it, but he seemed to think it was from parking in the garage on the side stand. I don't park in my garage on the side stand. Never have a...

Gearbox and Final Drive oil
I have a 1996 R1100R. I wanted to buy oil for the Gearbox and Final Drive, but at the time of purchase I had not looked into the manual to see what was used from new. To make a longer story shorter, I was told by the dealer that they use 75w-140 synthetic. My book says either 80 or 90 Hypoid gear oi...

Synthetic oil
Hi All, New to this forum. Just wanted to know what type of final drive and tranny oil is being used in the R1100R? Dealer says they have been using 75w-140 synthetic. Not what the book calls out for? The book says either 80 or 90 or 80w-90 Hypoid gear oil depends on where you live. So the question ...
