If you have your owners manual, it will tell how to adjust those settings. Yuo will have to see what suits you. I adjusted all mine ti the stiffest settings and worked backward from there. I keep my rear preload to the stiff 2 up position, My rear shock about halfway and have my front set about 1 t...

Hi scribblin, I do not know about the US but in Europe BMW do not do a hard top box for the R1150R, only the soft bag you mention. This bag comes with a locking plate that fits and locks to the standard BMW rear rack but as with most things BMW the locking plate is sold as an extra to the bag. Alla...

Scribblin, I am not sure what the Sport Rider setting is but usually setting the shock for 2 up riding is going to be a little stiffer depending where you have yours set when riding solo. I keep mine set as if I were riding 2 up but usually never do. Where do you ride in Naples? I used to live ther...

Capt. Blackadder (or anyone who might know), Newbie question: Do the Sport Rider suspension settings dramatically change the overall ride quality? My wife rides with me every weekend and she has a fused L5 in her back. I like the idea of improving cornering capabilities, but I'll pass if it makes fo...

scribblin, you gotta rev that thing higher, you're in ol' lady territory shifting that low. These are made to rev up - go ahead and have some fun. The smooth, powerful accelleration is a blast. And go easy on the MPG checking, you need to check over a longer period of time to get a reasonable avera...

I saw a posting by some fellow who thought he was entitled to warranty coverage on tow charges because he had run out of fuel when his fuel gauge said there was one-half gallon remaining. Even bikes with a fuel gauge don't entirely solve the problem of getting the last mile out of a tank. Some bike...

I'm glad to at least hear that there is a top case out there that fits the R1150R. I was at the local BMW dealership today to ask about a top case, and a manager there (service manager, I think) told me that nobody makes a solid top case for my bike, including Givi. He even looked through two or thr...

This morning I reached 200.1 on the trip meter before the light came on briefly and went back off. I stopped to fill up at 201.2, still with no light. When I leaned the bike on its stand, the fuel light flickered and then stayed on. The bike took 3.821 gal., meaning there was still about 1.579 gal. ...

Okay, here are my results: I left the house this morning with 189.0 on the trip meter and no fuel light. Leaning the bike back and forth, I could hear fuel cascading across the bottom of the tank. I estimated that it sounded like half a gallon or so, not that I would know (since I've only owned the ...

Awesome, thanks for the help. I went back and checked the specs I saw online -- I misread them. The info is on a UK site that says the fuel capacity is 20.5 litres/4.5 gal./5.4 gal. US. Oops. (It's a neat site - http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/specpages/R1150R.htm.) When I filled up...it's hard to describe...

Mileage
I just bought my 2004 R1150R two days ago (absolutely thrilled with it, BTW) and filled the tank until the fluid level was about 1/2" below the hole. Then I set the trip meter. I have done strictly in-town riding with a little "Let's see what this baby can do" mixed in. My trip meter ...
