Re: R1150R - Wunderlich Rear cowl fitted
I've always been curious about the under-the-cowl storage compartment that wunderlich boasts. Mind showing a close up of that? Cheers As requested - carbon fibre hatch secured with 2 screws., I have had to shorten the mounting arm and move it back as Wunderlich supplied it too long and drilled in w...

Re: R1150R - Wunderlich Rear cowl fitted
Will take a picture, there is a small hatch in the base of the cowl secured by 2 screws but all I keep in it is the puncture kit well wrapped up in bubble rap and a pair of waterproof trousers as anything loose would move around and if heavy could crack/damage the cowl. It is well made of Fiberglass...

Re: Luggage-Givi-top case
I have a Hepco & Becker carrier and Journey 50 top-case. The carrier fits in place of the BMW rear rack on the BMW
panier rails. Very good well made case and carrier rack is good on it's own. Top case hold 2 helmets with ease

R1150R - Wunderlich Rear cowl fitted
Here are a few more mods done to my 2003 1150R. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff268/allanj255/bikes/June162010002.jpg Wunderlich cowl - replaces rear section of seat. Had a few problems mounting it as bracket supplied was to long and holes drilled in the wrong place on the cowl base. Wunderlich...

Re: Engine cutting out
There was a recall on twin spark 1150 R's. I had a problem with mine that it would suddenly cut out and I put a post here about the recall a while ago.
Here's the link. The problem was for 2003 models (2004 USA)

Re: Tinted helmet visor, legal?
Are legal tinted helmet visors in the US? If so, anyone could advice me where can I get a tinted visor for my System V BMW helmet? Cheers, Alfredo I seem to recall reading that tinted visors were illegal in the UK, but as far as I know there are no regulations on them in the US. A simple search for...

Re: My pipes are turning blue !!
The front part of my pipes turned blue on the way home from picking the bike brand new from the dealers, I got caught in slow moving trafic and that was it. I like the blue tinge to my pipes and they have developed a gold tinge over the years

By the way the "thing" you saw under the seat is the fusebox cover.

Re: Battery, Power socket etc.
All the cables for the power socket are there allready.(BMW must have saved $10 by not fitting the plug in the factory) They are behind the starter motor cover. All you need to do is remove the plastic cover, find the wires that are tucked up in the loom. Buy a power socket (either from your dealer ...

Go for it! 5 years ago I went to by a new 1150GS from my local dealer, saw a new night black 1150R fell in love with it, put down £1000 deposit and rode it away 1 week later. As others have said, it looks like a "Propper Bike" should

Re: Help on choosing a touring screen for R1150R
Hi Jeremy I would go with the others advice and try the sports screen first. I live in Northumberland - which tends to be a lot colder and windier than the South east. I have no problems with the sports screen, can cruise at 80mph with little trouble.

Re: Reasons for selling my BMW R1100R
It's a changing global market Arbee. There are parts on BMW's that were made in China and to a price. Plastic fuel disconnects for gods sake! I own a 1150 R which I have had from new but I have to work hard in preserving the finish. They are just not as good as they used to be and in my opinion alth...

Re: Difficulty Fitting Cylinder Protectors
As suggested, fit bolts loosley but before you start put guards in very hot water for a short while as this will give you a little flex, especially if it's cold outside. There should be no need to start cutting or trimming the guards. There are 2 types of guards 1 for single and 1 for twin spark.
