Since the subject of your exhaust tip came up, I was wondering if you could provide information about where you got it and any sizing/manufacturer/part number info that would allow me to be sure I was getting the same one.

I got out today since it was over 50 all day here in Colorado. It was very nice to get in some two wheel time. Also nice to find out that I put everything back together after a major maintenance and upgrade tear down. On the list were transmission seals, greased splines, a clutch hub spacer I fabbed...

When I installed mine, I pushed it in as far as I could and I think that the bottom of the plug assembly stuck out of the hole in the valve cover by about 1/8 of an inch. It's been a while though, so I don't remember exactly. If you are concerned, you could take it back out and measure the plug asse...

The one that I linked above is both a cap and the part that stays in the valve cover. It is similar to the one from Wunderlich, but has a different key and costs a lot less. After removing the stock parts, it just pushes in and is held in place by set screws. Both parts are metal, and the cap screws...

Relocating does solve either problem, hot or wet. Corrosion is typically not a result of getting wet, but of staying wet. A relocated stick coil would almost certainly dry faster and therefore not corrode. Also, any corrosion would be easier to see and remedy before it becomes a problem.

Thanks Rob. I greatly appreciate your advice. I will not be changing it until after Thanksgiving, but I will post an update when I do.

Nevermind. After some convoluted searching I found the info I needed. When I change the seal I will post if there are any tricks.

So I pulled my clutch slave cylinder out and found gear oil. Can the seal on the input shaft be replaced from outside or does the transmission need to be opened up? Has anyone done or seen a write-up on this? I did a search but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

I just did this yesterday. The airbox needs to be unbolted from the rear frame and will stay down as the frame goes up. Hopefully you figured that out before now.
