FWIW,

The idea is to replace the stock cat box with another stock cat box that doesn't have two machine screw holes in the output flange. (No disrespect to the previous owner intended) Any way, thanks for all the replies.

O2 Sensor Removal, How much drama?

Good Morning All, I have a need to remove the catbox from my bike. I almost started to do so awhile back, but waved off when I saw the O2 sensor waiting harmlessly up front. Any experiences worth reporting? FWIW, I do have a manual, etc. Just wanted to ask BEFORE I do something bad (read "bad&q...

Latest & Greatest: Rode to work and back today. About 40 mile round trip. Everything seems okay. The ride in was probably in the lower 40's. NOTHING was hot on the bike, especially ME. The ride home was in the high 70's MAYBE low 80's (Three cheers for the Central Cali Valley). Rear rotor didn't...

Csandel,

If you decide to sell your "beak/spade" drop me a PM. FWIW, I like the beak. Just my .02. To each his/her own I suppose.

Update #2: Removed rear caliper from paralever arm, but did not disconnect the brake fluid line. Removed pads, springs and mounting plate and cleaned everything with brakekleen. Gave the rear rotor a good cleaning while I had everthing apart. Lubed both guide pins. Everything went right back togethe...

Test Ride Update:

Better. Still kind of warm after a short ride in traffic. Will probably go the brake cleaner spray route and see if it gets any better.

Thanks all.

Paid $7100 OTD for my '05 R1150R. No bags though. Mine doesn't have a stock paint job. Additionally, the fly screen has been cut down and the rear fender has been modified. Mine didn't have the rear muffler, had to buy one from BMWOA. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Success!... Well, maybe... Have the RR up on the center stand and rotated the rear wheel. Rear caliper was definitely dragging. Read that the rear caliper is supposed to "float". Noticed it wasn't moving anywhere. Decided to push the caliper against the rotor, by hand. It moved and appeare...

DJ Downunder,

Thought of that, rode around a bit last night conscious of my foot placement. I may be fretting over nothing, again. This bike smells HOT after short rides since last week's soaking. Anything else that could be heating up or just generating a hot smell? Thanks.

Rear Brake Assist Please

Greetings All, A follow-on situation to my wet ride last week. Seems like the rear caliper may be dragging. In three miles, the rear rotor gets too hot to touch. Normal riding, no rawhiding, etc. Front rotors are normally warm, for lack of a better term. Any of you have any experience like this? Any...

First Day-Long Ride on my R1150R

Greetings All, Just came from a day-long ride in central CA. Started off in Hanford, headed west on backroads to Coalinga and then on to King City. From King City, I rode south and then west through the Fort Hunter Leggit Military Resevation and came out on the Pacific Coast Highway north of Gorda. ...

I imagine the R1200R (437lbs) is lighter than the R1150R (514lbs w/ABS)

Guess I'd better go get my scale!

So you are saying that the fairing, etc. on the RT only weighs around 78lbs? Hmmmm...

'05 R1150R vs '07 R1200RT Dry Weight?

Simple, dumb quesiton toninght: What is the dry weight of an '07 R1200RT? Powersports Network says 505 lbs Dry. This website also says 514lbs for an R1150R w/ABS. I've ridden an RT before and I'd love to know how BMW made a full blown touring rig 9 lbs lighter than my roadster. Just curious. Thanks ...

Well... Okay, probably not the smartest question I've ever asked... Then again, I don't know what the dealership may have done to this bike after it was traded in. I do know who did the 12K service and I trust them (BMW of Fresno's Service Professionals). At any rate, thanks for the reply, I didn't ...

Rear Drive Temp?

Just curious on this. Took my Roadster out for a 15 mile quick ride. Practiced a couple of quick stops on the way home. Expected the rear rotor to be warm. Final Drive seemed warm too. Perhaps this is normal ops? I know, I know, I should know after claiming to have owned as many BMW products as I ha...

Well, since you asked... I used to own a 2004 R1200C Montauk that I used for two up riding. Last year, I traded it up for an LT. I've never looked back. Never ridden a Gold Wing so I can't help there. Ride Safe.
