Re: Starting Issue

That click noise is usually an indicator that the battery is very weak...or possibly a battery connection is not tight. Not sure about the whine under the seat. It has been a long time since I owned my black R1150R - "The Black Dominatrix". The battery is fully charged and all the connect...

Starting Issue

Hello, I have a 2002 R1150R. When I push the start button, I hear a click and then nothing. If I try again i hear a whine and still nothing. The whine is coming from the fuse box under the seat. The battery is fully charged. I got a new starter relay and still the same result. I removed the starter ...

Did your mechanic really say 10%? That's a lot! I certainly would not consider that a small percentage. 8-[

Re: Corbin seat experience

I've always gotten great service from Corbin. They answer emails super quick; unlike Sargent who don't even reply to emails after they screw up.

Re: Corbin seat experience

I've had several Corbin's, and while they are sturdy and well made, they are heavy (fiberglass) and they NEVER fit properly without some modification -- inexcusable. That said, after several hours on them, I wasn't thinking about the saddle. A much better choice in turnkey saddles is Sargent, thoug...

Re: Diagram of Cable Ties?

Is this about the Technical Service Bulletin about the instrument wiring harness being chafed or pinched? My dealer gave me a copy of the TSB one day when I was there for a new tire (I didn't have the bike with me). The service advisor said it was not covered under any warranty (my bike was out of ...

Re: Air filter access

Flatter, as in not as tall? If so, how does it make the seal to the top of the airbox (underside of the cover) to keep dirt out of the engine? Yes the height is the same, it is the overall diameter that is significantly larger on the OEM filter. Here are pics for comparison. http://www.teileineile....

Re: Consumer Reports tests Motorcycles

Hm. 4,700 bikes is statistically significant. Let's see... How many brands of bikes are there? How many models do each brand have? How many of each model were sold? 4700 is not even close to being a significant sample size. Furthermore how many of each bikes were surveyed? How many of the smaller m...

Re: Consumer Reports tests Motorcycles

CR "surveys" are so flawed and sample size so small that it is statistically "invalid". I personally would not put any validity to anything they say. They have been sued so many times and have been able to weasel and slilther out of it because "freedom of the press" is ...

When I did it, one of the plastic OEM quick disconnects cracked. It was a good opportunity to replace both of them with metal ones.

I just use a fresh bottle from my local NAPA. Like the guy above me said, as long as you are changing it regularly, any decent brand that meets specs is fine.

Yes it has...and don't do THAT anymore. It has to have air flowing over the headers and engine to keep it cool.

Even more detrimental if you are running it with the first idle "choke" lever on.

I have the Barkbuster Storm Handguards on my R1150R. They were very easy to install, looks nice IMO, and does block the wind somewhat, helping the heated grips retain more heat. :)

My 13 year old factory battery is starting to go That's quite impressive. My 2004 CBR600RR's battery will be 9 years old soon and still going strong. But considering the CBR starts instantaneously while the Oilhead has to crank for a full second or two, the battery lives a much easier life inside t...

more cranking amps with the pc680. i got mine at batteries plus here locally for $150. it rocks! Does this translate to faster cranking speed? The Westco seems to crank at more than reasonable speed. Actually being so impressed with the Motolectric kit when I installed it on my Ducati 900SS, I got ...

From memory, 36psi front and 42psi rear. I turn the rear suspension preload wheel clockwise a couple of full turns (a click each time). Yes your memory is correct on the pressure. :) As for the rear preload, I would crank it to full stiff. I'm only about 190 lbs and my girlfriend is about 108 lbs a...
