Klotz Octane Booster

Never heard of this stuff until a few minutes ago. Very leery. Anyone? Klotz Octane Booster is a concentrated tetraethyl lead substitute formulated to increase the MON octane rating of gasoline up to 10 numbers. Helps eliminate engine damaging detonation, spark knock, pre-ignition, and pinging from ...

Re: Monday AM - off to Nova Scotia

Don- Rather than go through Bangor and across rte. 9 ("The Airline" -- not only not a beautiful road and watch out for logging trucks!) take rte. 1A down into Ellsworth (some construction between Bangor and Ellsworth, but not tooo bad) or better yet, take rte. 3 from Augusta through Belfas...

Re: Clutch Problems

Welcome to the board, VSK. I can't add to the technical advice you're receiving, but I will say that I would strongly suggest not leaving the bike in neutral at a stop light. I leave mine in first gear with the clutch pulled in and continually check the mirrors for an inattentive driver coming up be...

GS-911

Several weeks ago I went to balance my throttle bodies and found that the balance was off at idle -- way off. My only options for correcting the problem were to spend a day going to my dealer (a great dealer (Max BMW) but 250 miles of boring highway each way) and pay probably at least $100 or spend ...

Left button: gate access; right button: garage door.

Housing: BMW for GS extra lights.
Waterproof buttons.

It works great! ;)

Re: Almost done "crapping it up"

:P :P Oh - general comments.. On "Crapping it up.." - a friend has been accusing me of this for years, and that's exactly his term. He obviously doesn't understand Farkling(tm).. He gets quite defensive when I accuse him of the same when he mounts ANYTHING on his bike. Bob - On the locatio...

Re: Almost done "crapping it up"

The "Flash 2 Pass" device (http://www.f2ptechnologies.com) is the most elegant and secure solution to the garage door problem. I put the transmitter in the headlight shell. Just flash your high beams twice and the door opens. I agree; it is a nice solution but I really don't want to cut/t...

Almost done "crapping it up"

By "crapping it up" I mean no offense to the true farklers out there. Just a term I use for what I do! :) I finally added what is probably the best addition I've had on any motorcycle -- a garage door opener. Don't really know what took me so long. I had one on my last bike and wouldn't be...

Re: Cleaning Exhaust Headers

Cleaning or shining? You can get rid of the discoloration for a while but it always comes back. I've heard of people using a coating on them, however, (not sure if it was powder coating) and they stayed looking nice. Good question; I wasn't clear. I am interested in periodically getting rid of disc...

Yeah. I was pleasantly surprised by the size. I think they're too big to paint black (for me) but the coverage is excellent.

Re: Throttle Body Sync Questions

Bob, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You may see some rapid movement around center on max sensitivity if you don't have restrictors installed (does the TwinMax come with them?) If you do see this - it should still be centered on zero, so if you're seeing 2.5 divisions of movement total - I'd ex...

Re: Throttle Body Sync Questions

You shouldn't even consider idle readings since the balance at idle is under the control of the computer. They rarely are even at idle - the ECU is adjusting them individually via the stepper motor bypass passages to get the best idle. Personally it doesn't do a great job, but since I don't ride at...

Mike and Don: thanks :D Don: I think you're right about mounting height. I went as high as I felt I could so as not to block the reflectors too much with the bottom-mounted lights. (I was shooting for a good compromise between a large triangle for daytime visibility and reasonable height for nightti...

Re: Driving Lights Advice Please

Thanks again to everyone who contributed answers. Here's how it finally worked out: The Electrical Connections Can-bus adapter has worked well for me so far with no failures in over a 1000 miles of testing, so I am going ahead and using it for switched power to the relay for my fuse block as well as...

Re: New - Acerbis Hand Guards for R1200R

I heard from Wunderlich yesterday that the set of tinted handguards I ordered a while back finally shipped :D Now that Spring's finally sprung around here I'm in less of a rush to mount them and will have time to decide if I want to paint them black or not (or maybe some other color?).
