Elves

:D Actually it' s true but the assembly people that make the mopeds are smaller and of a more irritable disposition (elves). Those that assemble our bikes are much larger and of easier demeanor hence why our bikes cost a bit more.

One last comment

 Leno, glad to hear from you. London is one of my favortite cities. In the mid-80's I was there several times on business and was very taken in with the hospitality and humor of the people. Good luck with the new bike as well. Keith, thanks for the regards. Mixr, sorry about the "flabby-ar...

Sold the "R" some comments

:D After work today I met with a serious buyer and looks like he will buying my "R". Doesn't matter as the Honda dealer has offered to take it in trade and offered me a fair price if you can believe it. I was shocked actually as the BMW dealer here didn't offer me anything near that on tra...

Challey, I just had the 12K done at Ironhorse here in Tucson. They have BMW owners ride in from Phoenix and even from New Mexico to get their bikes serviced. I was told that the plugs did not need changing at 12K. I'll leave the rest up to the experts here on this site. Too bad you can't get Redline...

 You know, here's the rub. You buy a bike with heritage and a certain cult allure and much of the apparent value comes from how well the bike was maintained. Two people who have looked (including a dealer) asked me the magic question; "do you have the stamp and signature on the services?&...

:D It's the summer blend gas. My R had the same symptoms and I thought since it was time for the 12K service it might be that. Told the dealer here in Tucson about it (top rate dealership) and the service manager told me that they go through this every year at this time when they change the blend. I...

Thanks for the great pics of your trip. I'm here in Southeast Arizona and have been trying to get some time to head to some of the areas you toured.

Thanks again!

Don't know why you would want to keep 15 pounds and 20,000BTU of heat between your legs when you can replace the "George Foreman Broiler" with a "Y" pipe get a nice deeper exhaust, flatter power band and no heat. Just another opinion. I've been running my "Y" for two ye...

R1200R

Pat, It's interesting that you said that about a supposed R1200R. I was at the BMW dealership this past weekend and rode a 1200RT. Now that I'm in Arizona the riding is more highway and I've been commuting to work on my R. Seat is too hard and the RT would make a better bike for that trip. Anyhow I ...

I understand that the road rage had nothing to do with wearing a helmet. Road rage doesn't respect helmets. I also don't know whether or not it would have made a difference either. There are a lot of people out there driving that do not have much self-control or that have a limit to how much pressur...

This happened near where I work in Tucson. Really scary to know those folks are out there in cars. There was also another fatality a couple weeks earlier on Valencia near the Harley incident where a man on a Goldwing was struck by a left hand turning vehicle. For those of you who wear helmets, Arizo...

Ditto's to all of it. I rode the K1200S and have to admit it was absolutely incredible....really, really quick and a gas to ride. When I got back on my 'R' it was like firing up a tractor...the sound and the roughness of the twin. But then on the way home all of the things that indear the bike to me...

I had a Lab-Wiemer cross that ate a pine tree. I'm not kidding. That damn dog was the best hunter I ever had but you couldn't turn your back on him. I had finished planting a 5' tall pine tree (dug the hole, put in the soil amendments, water etc, etc). All the time this was going on old Smoky lay on...

You'd have to have lived there as we did. There's a lot bigger list of insanity and neo-Nazi mentality that goes along with California. When I worked in Livermore at the Lawrence Livermore Lab, there was a water leak in one of the airconditioning systems out at Site 300 (remote test site). A group o...
