Sounds like the starter was struggling quite a bit to turn the motor over. Then when you push started it, it still didn't rotate. What gear were you in?

I would pull the plugs and try to rotate the motor just to be sure there isn't something else wrong here.

100 miles on her, and she's running perfectly. The oil still smells slightly burned, so at the 300 mile point (Monday) I'll do another oil change.

Great News!! After running a compression test this morning, and finding full and identical compression on both cylinders of 140 psi, I thought, what the hell could this be?
