Re: K12R Mirrors on my R

Re: K12R Mirrors on my R
I seen the mirror in a BMW brochure and asked my local dealer if they had them for the R1200R he said yes. I asked him if they are the same chrome mirror that where on the R1200C and the only thing he could tell me about the mirror is that they are for the R1200R. They thread directly in and I paid ...

Re: K12R Mirrors on my R
I just put some chrome BMW R 1200 R mirrors on. I think they look heaps better than the old mickey mouse ears.

Re: Brake recall
I live in Australia and I got a recall letter dated the 21APR 2008. The letter reads BMW Motorrad has ascertained that there is a possibility that a brake line of your motorcycle's front brake system might have suffered damage. Damage of this nature could result in a loss of brake fluid, if this los...

Re: Silencer angst
When I asked my local dealer for the tinted sports windshield they gave me a strange look, because normally when you order a R 1200 R and ask for a sports windshield they put on a clear one. But when I showed them the BMW Motorcycle Equipment Brochure http://www.motorcycles.bmw.com.au/indexframe.asp...

Re: R1200R Tires - Pirelli Scorpion Sync DIY
So far I have got over 8000 km on my rear conti attacks and it looks like i should get at least couple 1000 km more out of them. The "chippings dropped in a layer of tar" method down here in VIC is only abrasive on cool days, on hot days it gets quite slippery and they even put warning sig...

Re: Three quarter helmets....
I use to ride with open faced helmets and singlets when I was riding Harley Davidson’s but thinking back it was for show not go. With the chances of skin cancer http://www.sunsmart.com.au/ and gravel rash I will stick with the helmet that fits me best the Shoei XR1000.

My local dealer is Southbank Motorcycles you should talk to Danielle Hoeymakers on (03) 9686 1999. I haven’t noticed any increase in stumbling or exhaust popping from the standard system, this only happens sometimes when I'm riding hard and back off the throttle. The bike run’s so swee...

I got my local BMW dealer to put the pipes on so I really don’t know anything about fueling adjustment. As for the sound of a full system, well it’s like my bikes balls dropped it became deep and throaty (not too loud) but above 3800 rpm it sounds pretty spirited (angry). Here's a phot...

Staintune reckons there is a 3.5Kg weight saving by fitting the full system. But for me Staintune pipes just looks and sounds nice. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii226/salub_photo/pipes-2.gif http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii226/salub_photo/pipes-1.gif Here is a photo so you can see the siz...

I think you can get them in the US I have seen one on a K1200RS. I don't know how much weight saving there is but when they put the system on my bike I was going for a trip to Adelaide from Briagolong (1000km one way) and I had both side cases and top box loaded which made my back wheel touch the gr...
