Mark: I have no experience with the goo stuff, but here's what I do. I bought the Slime brand 12v compact air compressor and the Plug n Go tire plug kit. The kit uses the mushroom style plugs. Total cost for both around $70.00 or so. Both received good write-ups in the MCN mag. I carry my raingear i...

Not a problem with the hair dryer and the decals. Took mine off the day I bought my R back in Jan. Used my fingernail to get a corner lose and then pulled off each letter very easily. No need to get crazy with the heat and don't hold it in one spot for a long time. Just keep the dryer about 4-5 inch...

No man made material offers the abrasion protection that leather does. It boils down to the fact that the molecules in leather are arranged in a random order. Man made materials are not. Sure, the other stuff offers protection, but not at the same level as leather. dingle

I have both. I ride in my leather pants (HD-FXRG) up until 85 or so. Very comfortable and not hot. They are unlined with armor in the knees and hips. In the rain I slip my Gortex rain pants over them. 85 degrees and above I wear Joe Rocket air mesh pants, armor included. Both work well for me.

When I ordered my bags for my R, they came with both a set of reflectors and a set of the BMW logo inserts. My new RT came with the reflectors. I have the BMW inserts ordered from my dealer.

Rick Mayer seat for the R1200R

Just an FYI. I traded in my R last week on a new RT. My Mayer seat had a build date of 5/15/07. I would expect that within a week or so I should be seeing it. Needless to say, I no longer have a use for it. Construction was what Rick calls a "modified solo." The drivers half done in his tr...

Jim: I can't say that I noticed any increase in gas mileage. I have both the 10" shield and the 18". No helmet buffeting with either shield unless it's windy, then the 10" yields some buffeting. Guess the 14" would depend on your height, etc. It's a great product and IMHO really ...

Hoosier: My opener is only eight years old and I've yet to get a kiss from it! But then it's never bitched at me either! Just kidding. After 42 years, it sounds like you've got things well in order. Did you end up buying a new R yet?

Low fuel warning light/bike reaction

Not sure if any of you have experienced this or not, but I thought I'd share it with ya'll. Twice over the past four days I've run the bike into the low fuel warning light. The computer showed both times, 30 miles remaining. Within about 5-7 miles after the light came on and both times while riding ...

After an extensive R and D session, here's my install. I took the clip off the back of the opener and velcroed it to the back side of my computer screen module! In that location, behind my Scout fairing, it should stay high and dry. I simply lean a little forward, hit the opener down the street and ...
