Hey!
You're too early!

There should be at least another month before that awful white stuff settles on the road.

Cheers anyhow

Re: Are there any mean, dirty, tough-guy looking r1200r's?

If I wanted to pretend I'm a tough guy what can I do to the look of my bike? Anybody have some pictures of our bike like that? I've seen this one http://www.r1150r.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17146 and the beautiful white one owned by a guy who's name starts with Z or something (gorgeous). Ma...

Re: 2007 compared to 2010

I had a 07 and now bought a new 09 left over. One thing to check on the 07 is that there were a few minor recalls regarding the brake lines and maybe something else a quick search brought this up: http://www.dealerrater.com/recalls/BMW/R-1200-R/ Nothing major really. The one thing I like about gett...

All this won't help you any.
Even with pinstripes black stays the slow colour.

Merry Christmas

Well.
These Dogs might not be all wrong.
In Germany the talk is that we'll see water in 2014.
And, yes, it is supposed to be for noise regulation reasons.
Sodding shame....

25000 km since Feb 2007

Best bike I know of. No trouble except battery and of course the recalls.

Two and a half year for mine.
But no tow truck. BMW service car came on a Sunday morning and we could start our little tour with 90 min delay.

Re: What the bike got for Christmas..

Hi Don

Just in case you should be serious about these burnouts......

Beware! With the combined brake action that could be the death of your rear brake.
Manual contains a warning on just that.

Cheers and a Happy New Year

Re: Seeing in the rain ???

Use a Schuberth helmet with anti-fog visor.
Use Held "Raindrop" gloves with an actual little windshield-wiper rubber profile sewn to the left index finger.
Keep going all day.

Cheers

Finished Farkling

Hi all Accessory Junkies (basically everybody) It sounds unreal but I believe I have all my farkles installed. - MV barbacks - Airhawk cushion - M-Tec footpegs . This brings the feet about an inch down and forward thereby improving the knee angle by just that little bit I needed to not want to stop ...

Re: About battery crap

Thanks for your answers. This seems to confirm my suspicions. So please allow me to repeat my questions: Can anybody report an original "Exide" battery that survived more than 3 years? Can any body report another type of battery that gave more than 3 years of service? It would be really in...

About battery crap

Hi All! What I would like to know: Can anybody report an original "Exide" bacteria that survived more than 3 years? Can any body report another type of battery that gave more than 3 years of service? (I do not know how to initiate a "survey", but maybe moderators can help.) Backg...

Re: Side stand overnight

Hi Jeff That is classic BMW lore. The old 2-valve airheads tend to smoke a little when parked on the side stand for any longer time. That is from oil creeping into the left cylinder. For the modern oilheads this rule doesn't apply any more. (Probably with the better cooling the tolerances can be kep...

Re: Octane

AFAIK the engine does have detonation sensors and so can adapt to gas quality by e.g. delaying ignition.
Also BMW confirms that 10% ethanol (like commonly used in France) is not detrimental to the engine. Of course that mixture sllightly reduces economy and range.

Re: How TALL are R12R owners?

Once a low rider put out a call
Asking R-owners, hey, are you tall?
Well, I have to admit
I don't like it a bit
I am handsome, but not tall at all!

Cheers
