Re: Slow Starter Motor / 04 R1150R 3800 miles
RE: flashing ABS. It flashes slowly (~1 hz?) until the wheelspeed is above 3mph and completes the self test. If it is flashing after you are above this speed then you have a problem. Did you charge the battery before hooking it up and cranking? You said it has 12.4 volts, but that is nearly inconseq...

cast lead slugs or muzzleloading round balls at least .45 caliber in tank bag. cheap (just melted wheel weights) and crack windshields. obviously be discreet and have escape route.

Re: 02 R 1150RT ABS Issues (continued)
Now we are really onto something. Iowa is right I think. The exact symptom can be replicated by holding the brake when turning key-on, or grabbing brake before self test completes. It is almost certainly the hand or foot brake switch, or damaged wire thereof.

Re: 02 R 1150RT ABS Issues (continued)
Keith, if you have an ABS problem and at the same time your tail brakelight is on continuously and your fuelpump is not whining (not working) this indicates that you have some kind of electric/electronic bug (because the fuel pump is on a different connector/wiring than the ABS). It could either be...

Re: I "Could Have Had" a 1200
There really shouldn't be enough of a vibration to cause you that much issue. maybe you have a stick coil going bad? I gotta side with Rob on the RPMs. I cruise around on mine at 55-60 mph in 6th gear. It is perfectly happy 3000 RPM in 6th. The throttle is barely open so you know it isn't "lugg...

Re: 2003 R1150R Known Issues
Well I personally haven't experienced it but I would imagine the line splitting and high-pressure fuel spurting out until the electric fuel pump drains your tank or you turn the switch off.motorcityrider wrote:So what is the failure mode of the fuel lines if they are not changed?

Re: missing stock luggage rack :(
OH, ok, that makes me feel better! =D> I guess the question is should I try to track down an OEM luggage rack? Or is there another option for getting a topcase w/ backrest that is economical and durable? I'm sure someone here knows. I have the luggage rack and use the pirate's lair backrest. I have...

Re: missing stock luggage rack :(
So, I purchased a 2004 R1150R w/ ABS in May of last year. Now I am in the process of trying to get a top case/back rest for storage and just to make the ride more comfortable for my girlfriend to go on longer trips. I found several posts about the Shad Top Cases and they look great. What I'm findin...

Re: 2003 R1150R Known Issues
I guess the other question is if you have an ABS bike or not. If you have ABS removing the tank will be an annual operation. Otherwise it will be just to replace the battery.

Re: Unexpected result, or...expected???
I switched my '02 roadster to synthetic oil at 12k miles. Before this, when I was using regular oil, I needed to add it at the rate of about 150-200ml / 1000 miles (which, according to the board, is normal). Now the oil consumption seems to have stopped (or is very low) - I put another 2k on the bi...

Thanks. Replace plastic fuel line quick disconnects with chrome plated brass ASAP ($72 from beemer bo...
