Re: Stiff throttle - 2002 R1150R
Thanks for the pics. =D> Just looking at the pics is giving me a headache! I will at least check out the condition of the cables and such and lube it first, then if that doesn't work, dismantle the beast! Maybe it's just me . . . . but working on the R1150R throttle cable system is by far the ...

Re: Stiff throttle - 2002 R1150R
It's a 2002 as in the subject line. It's got about 45K miles. Has been in rain while riding, but that is expected.

Stiff throttle - 2002 R1150R
I have lubed the cables with WD-40, but I find the throttle stiff. After just half hour of riding my thumb gets numb. Kaoko Throttle lock helps, but I would like the throttle to be smooth (like most japanese bikes). I have heard rumors that the BMW grips may also contribute to the problem, so I am g...

Lift to put on center stand?
I bought a lift helper for putting bike on center stand on Ebay. It was for R1150RT, and I bought it without thinking (duh) ... Now, I don't see how/where this gets installed on my R1150R! I could make some hardware to install just below the side plastic below the seat in front of the muffler - just...

Custom Exhaust
As many have said on this forum, the R1150R stock muffler is not very exciting, so I figured I would build a custom one (have done so for other bikes). Next, I have to consider the potential need for any adjustments to the FI map, w/ stock or aftermarket (e.g., Dynojet). I will post pics when it's d...

Re: Fuel gauge, who makes one that's easy to install?
Well, mine is a 2002 R1150R, so it wasn't common to have a fuel gauge, but at least a reserve light would have helped! There is none as far as I know. There is a yellow idiot light on the upper right of the dash (about at 5 o'clock below the clock) that should come on when you have 1.4 gallons left...

These Germans are amazing at technology and precision ... so I wondered why they forgot the fuel warning of some sort. Even a 15+ years old bike had ...

2002 R1150R: WTT Cal-Sci (or similar) for my Touring Shield
I have a BMW touring shield that I am using with a laminar lip. It works fine for me right now (spring time) and there is no noticeable buffeting (YMMV), but I know the wind from the L/R sides is going to get me chilled come late fall/winter time. So planning head ... Note: the touring shield height...

Re: Lost the Beak!!!
I prefer the look and there seems to be less buffeting. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/404206_296406507062585_100000797138194_748061_1892517469_n.jpg What's the brand and size of windshield is that? BMW brackets or aftermarket/brand? Also, what's what's that curved plastic on the si...

Re: Sold my bike
Thanks Robert!! If you are interested in buying a new toy, I have my FJR1300A for sale ... can be had now or in spring. Made few trips in the cold to NYC to work. The BMW touring windshield doesn't cut it :-( So, got a Cal Sci 22" shield. Will try that to see if it's any better. btw. the nautil...

Re: Crash guards for 02 r 1150 r
The problem with expensive crash bars, is they cost more than the parts they are intended to protect. As of July, a new valve cover is $176 (Don't ask how I know this. ) I put the plastic valve covers back on. Looking for crash bars lead me to the conclusion most of the high end ones either a...
