Re: Screens compared

I found a solution to my odissey with the Wunderlich fairing. I have installed a steering stop from Touratech. It shortens the steering movement just as much as needed in order for the fairing not to touch anymore the gas tank. http://shop.touratech.com/hard-part-la-steering-stop-for-the-bmw-r-1200-...

Booster Plug installation

I went for a Booster Plug. Similar to other forum members I can confirm a subtle but remarkable change. At low speed and low revs the bike has more power and reacts smoother when you change throttle. A nice addition that improves my ride. I made some pictures about the installation process. You can ...

Re: Screens compared

Hi Barry, I did the same, unfortunately it does not work for me. If I move the headlight out the fairing can not be seated around the headlight. If I remove the headlight I can lift the fairing such that it does not touch the tank. So I can choose riding without lamp but with fairing or the other wa...

Re: Screens compared

Hi Barry, Mine touches on both sides and it is not just alight touch but actually there is a slight bend on the fairing at full steering. Your solution is inspiring. I will find time during the weekend to give it a try and will post the result. As fro Wunderlich, they are simply ignoring my emails. ...

Re: Screens compared

Hi Steve, It seems I am on my own with my problem. Check these pictures. Clearly the fairing touches the gas tank on both sides. Plastic strips on the fairing and the tank are there for protecting the finish on both. I am in a close to 2 weeks discussion with Wunderlich. Up to now they've been far f...

Re: Screens compared

See my install thread. Just installed today! http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/DSCN1400.JPG Looks really nice. Can you let me know if at full, stearing does your fairing touch the tank? Mine does and until now the support I received from Wunderlich was subpar. They suggested me to try to bend ...

Re: Stuck with spring strut replacement

On my 07' that bushing doesn't need to come out to remove the shock, just the bolt. Mine doesn't have ESA though. Have you tried prying out the shock? It can be a tight fit in there, I've used a flat head screwdriver to get in between the shock and the swing arm coming from the bottom, pushing the ...

Re: Stuck with spring strut replacement

I don't know what year you have but on my 2112 once the bolt was out, then shock came off. If there was a bushing it stayed in the shock. David Mine is the older 2006-2010 model range. Once the screw is removed the strut while it pivots is still held firmly in place by something, probably the bushi...

Stuck with spring strut replacement

I am about to swap my spring struts front and rear. I started wit the rear but could not remove the bushing shown with red arrow on the first picture and seen as displayed in the BMW manual with figure 4 on the second picture. Based on the BMW repair manual once the related screw is removed the bush...

Re: Screens compared

Thank you for the positive feedbacks. It is good to see that some of my experience overlaps with the one of other members. Cleary the fact that the Wunderlich fairing became my preference does not mean that this will be the optimal solution for all of us. As mentioned by others this will very much ...

Re: Pricey, but I'm very happy.

VanDan, I have just settled with the same Wunderlich Trophy (see Screens Compared topic I recently opened). I really love it, as it offers appropriate wind protection and perfectly smooth air with no buffeting at all. What I noticed and did not like is that if I steer to the extreme left or right th...

Screens compared

Lots of lots of information already on the forum regarding screens. I think that this is one of the most controversial items around as it very much depends on the size of the rider and to the extent he/she is susceptible to wind noise, buffeting and wind pressure. I had my part of trials and ended u...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

Cestes, do you use a tilting method for the screen or it is the factory position?

It seems that significant diminishing of turbulences as soon as you get close enough to the screen is not my sole experience.

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

I think that a taller screen would help a lot. The screens that work best are tall enough to shield the bottom half of your face, but never so tall that you can't see the road over it. I use a 25 inch Cal-Sci, and I'm an inch shorter than you are. It's tilted with one of my 1 inch blocks, and it st...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

Thanks for that, quite an extensive essay reinforcing that no screen is the quietest ride, but wind pressure and bugs will become e a problem on longer tours. As for the right screen: good luck to all of us :D Today I went out again for a ride without a screen. Just as the day before it was a really...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

Yestreday I must have been really frustrated as today I went through all of my screens in short comparative rides. Cee Bayley 23", than the BMW touring, than the BMW sport ... and finally something I have not tried earlier: no windscreen at all. Clearly, definitely and absolutely the best setup...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

My 2nd gen. 23" Cee Bailey arrived in the past days. I am 175 cm high (5'8") and I use a BMW regular height comfort seat. With the 23" screen I am still looking above the screen and not through it. As for many of you this is not my first screen #-o Earlier I had the 1st gen. 18" ...
