Re: Random Thoughts on My R1150R
Love the sm-5 signal minder. hate the horn location, in addition to accidentally hitting the horn when turning left, there is the embarrassing times when the fully loaded bmw tank bag hits the horn when making tight parking lot turn to the left.

Re: Seafoam in the engine oil solves rough idle!
I also have the idle that misses a beat every so often. I am due for a full tune, valve adjustment, but if it still hesitates, maybe I will try the sea foam.

Re: Speed-shifting
I agree w/ what has been posted. I know on my dirt bike, wr250f, that shifting up without the clutch is is ok, but downshifting puts more strain on the tranny, although it works both ways. I think on the beemers, probably best to use the clutch most of the time for maximum tranny life. Fresh Full sy...

Re: What does a final drive "feel like" when it's going out?
right turns are sharper than left because we drive on the left side of the road and this could be a factor for the right side of the tire to wear more. However the road crown would tend to wear out the left side of the tire you would think. I change my final drive and tranny lube every 6K miles, lub...

I have been running full syn castrol or mobil in my tranny and rear end for years now, works great w/smooth shifting and no leaks.

Re: Faulty (Front) Brake Light Switch
I used some electrical connection spray cleaner to fix the switch once. I did the dumb thing and tried to lube the brake lever pivot and just messed up the electrical connection in the brake switch. the spray flush did the trick on my 04 1150r.

Re: want to change to oil indicator window..advise please
I went to the ADV westfest 08 in lake city Colorado and got to see what they do. About half probably trailered their dirt bikes in and had jacks and fancy tools, changing out sprockets and such. They wave at each other with their middle fingers  One guy came on a goldwing with a slick lightwei...

Re: left side abs light flashing and high idle problem
Thanks, I went throu the brake server failure when I overlubed the brake handle pivot and shorted the microswitch. Had the right side ABS failure light flashing and you get an intense, "Oh s*** I'm going to die" feeling as you clench and squeeze all four fingers on the brake handle waiting...

left side abs light flashing and high idle problem
I have an intermittent problem where sometimes when I start the bike (04 1150r) the left side abs warning light stays on when I ride away. To fix it, I stop and turn off the bike and normally upon restarting the light will and turn off after riding away (act like it should). Sometimes I have a high ...

Re: power commander
I love my techlusion, I set it according to the recommendations for the 1150r about 10k miles ago and it curing the surging problem, can cruise at low RPMs, has great power at low, mid, high bands and I am running midgrade gas and getting up to 53 MPG, even touring (but using BMW speedo which reads ...

I like the kissan signal minder as well. You get running lights, easier to use turn signals that turn off and the 4 way flashers.

Pirelli scorpian sync for the 1150R
I am looking for a more aggressive tire and saw the 160/60/17 snyc will fit the 1150r rear rim. Anyone tried this on the Roadster? I want the best of both worlds, pavement and dirt.

I have put 5000 miles on the pilot roads that were new when I bought my 1150R in Aug. They have about 1500 miles left on them now. I live in the mountains with rough twisty (and wet roads). I inspected them tonight and was impressed they were not cupped visibly nor flat. Great tire, would like more ...

Just a guess, but I suspect the valves could need some adjusting. I did a full tune last week on my bike. All the valves were 2-3000 out and after setting to fac spec, the bike now idles at 1200. Prior to the work, I could not get the idle below 1500 regardless of the brass screw positioning. I wond...

Hello, I am new to the site as I just bought an 1150r. I paid $9K for an 04 about 6 weeks ago via sleezebay from a private owner.
