Ref my previous post 2 Aug 11 (Noisy engine on 04 R1150R)
Ive just checked out the hex size on the L/H CCT. Its 17mm, does this mean its the old design? I recall reading somewhere that the upgraded CCT has a 15mm hex. Also has anyone managed to remove a CCT without removing the TB? It looks like you could get a socket behind the suspension arm using a 3/8&...

Noisy 04 1150R
UPDATE Just checked the hex size on the L/H tensioner,, its 17mm. Does this mean its the old style CCT? Ive had my 04 1150R for just over 12 months ad it has just reached 20K miles and is getting noisy. At low revs there is a knocking which vanishes above tickover. At high revs (5000+) there is a n...

Re: Oversteer on 04 R1150R
Thanks for all the information guys, just back from completing several passes of my favourite twisty road. Based on advice offered after eash pass I made small adjustments to the settings and found the bike handles best with the following settings (solo) Tyre pressures increased from book recommende...

Re: RIDER DOWN - my son has just had his first crash
The following event makes me wonder if we sometimes get obsessed with protective gear, although I do believe a helmet, boots and good gloves are a must. At the end off summer last year out on my 04 1150R I was coming down a 1 in 5 bank on the road from Buxton to Leek in the area of England know as t...

Oversteer on 04 R1150R
Has anyone experienced oversteer on the R1150R. Im fairly new to the bike and find that particularly on fast RH bends I have to lift the bike upright to hold a good line, otherwise the bike tracks towards the centreline of the road. I have new dunlop roadsmarts fitted and am running at the BMW recom...

Re: Y pipe for 2004 R1150R
With ref to Motorworks no longer exporting to the USA - A few of years ago when I went through my "custom Phase" An american supplier had saddlebags I wanted but they did not ship to the UK. The solution was that I got my nephew who lives in Las Vegas to purchase them and to ship them to m...

Y pipe for 2004 R1150R
Ive recently viewed an add in the UK press offering a Y pipe for my bike for only £113 ! Thats only a $182. The add reads as follows " NOT a Remus item but a value for money British made stainless steel Y piece. Weighs in at 1.74kg. This replaces the catalytic converter, improving gas flow and ...

Plug cap puller
Today I took delivery of a stick plug puller recently ordered from my local motorrad dealer for my 04 1150r twin spark . Prob is its too small and will not fit the recesses on the plug cap. Are there two sizes of these?

Re: oil seepage from rubber boot
Ive experienced exactly the same thing this weekend on my 16000 mile 04 R1150R following a 250 mile run out. Ive had the bike a few weeks and the previous owner advised that he had changed the final drive oil about 1K back. Again it was fairly dry, my first thought was it was brake dust. If it is an...

Topcase rack 2004 R1150R
Bit of info for those of you looking to fit a topcase. I originally fitted a givi case to the OE BMW rack which is attached to the pannier rails, it was ok but flexed a great deal and was not really suitable as a backrest I then purchased a Givi SR 689 rack which has better support but it left no ro...

First Impressions
After a longish ride yestrerday which while ok, I had a few quiet moments with a bit of a nagging doubt about my choice (2004 R1150R) todays 200ml ride two up around Wales has totally converted me to the bike. Rock steady even two up and incredible brakes, only fly in the ointment is the bad vibes, ...

Re: Topcase rack + live feed for intercom
Thanks for the info, Autocom now fitted. I took the live from the tail light as suggested and used one of the front seat mounting bracket pins as an earth. Autocom now housed under the tank above the air filter alongside the meta alarm, a snug fit and with all teh wires tie wrapped to the frame its ...

Re: Topcase rack + live feed for intercom
Just back from first proper ride, covered 100mls. after a multi, the twin seems lumpy and Im experiencing significant vibes through the pegs above 4000 rpm, although the mirrors remain blur free. Is this normal, the bike has 16000 mls on the clock? Its just had the throttles balanced at a main deale...

Topcase rack + live feed for intercom
Hi New member just registered. I live in the UK. Im just about to go out on my first ride of my newly aquired 2004 R1150R after spending the last 4 years mauling with a k1200rs, (after having enough of hauling around its 285Kgs) It has the pannier rails and a silver plastic rack fitted, want to repl...
