The speedbleeder I ordered for my rear brake worked great in that Y piece. Before I put that in, I had constant air from the threads with it open just a little bit. Now the front brakes are great.

Re: Bonehead Newb Mistake Leads To Jump Question
In MSF they told us to always use the kill switch. I do on my Enfield, but use the key on the R. I have seen oil class debates on the two.

Re: Bonehead Newb Mistake Leads To Jump Question
I have an older one without the jumper post, I just took off the starter cover and think I would try connecting to the starter post. I believe that is were the jumper post connects. All it takes is a 6mm allen wrench.

Re: Front Brake Line change
Sunbeemer, yes, that's a bleed.....personally, I never had to use it on on my R during the hydraulic fluid changes. Not on my former R but I have had issues over the years bleeding air fron the T type splitter, as it tends to lodge at the top of the interior cavities. I just ordered stainless steel...

Brake problems
I have an 02 R1150R without ABS. I have had the bike for just over a month and this is my first bike with disc brakes. I found that when pushing the bike around the garage, if I pulled in the front brake lever twice in a row, the brakes took a few seconds to disengage. The second pull was quite a bi...

Re: Noob oil question
Hurray, I can see oil in the glass! I am a little over the halfway mark now. I was about 3/4 quarts short it appears.
I planned on doing my own maintenance. I am a bit concerned about throttle body synch, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
Once again, thanks for the help.

Re: Noob oil question
You don't want to ride it without seeing oil in the sight glass. Go ahead and fill it to the middle of the sight glass. ....and next time....do your own oil change. I will, I would never consider letting someone else change the oil on my Enfield, but this was BMW from a BMW Dealership , I am sure i...

Re: Noob oil question
I drained the oil and it had 2.75 quarts in it cold. In other words I rode it yesterday, let it sit overnight and drained it without riding it to temperature. The oil is not pretty and clear, so I definitely was not seeing any in the sight glass. Since I am not sure how much oil can be hiding when i...

Noob oil question
Picked up my bike last Saturday. The dealer just performed the 18k service. When I look in the window it does not look like there is oil. Can it look empty when it is full? The dealer told me to ride it for 20min, let it sit on the center stand for 5 minutes - not 4, not 6, then check it. When I do ...

Re: Removing rear windshield bracket allen head bolts
Are those rear bolts load-bearing? I took my windshield off and tried to put in shorter bolts, but one is not going in all the way. The other did just fine, same length. I don't want to force it, but I don't want to remove it if it is required. Are these bolts just for holding on the bracket or do t...

Re: Does anyone know what this thing is?
Wow, didn't know auto switches existed. I will see if I can figure out what it is doing. The bike does have a headlight modulator installed. I am still figuring out how that works. Hold the headlight button seems to toggle it. I have covered this thing to see if it was a light sensor for the modulat...

Does anyone know what this thing is?
There is a wire coming out from under my gas tank that ends in what looks like a little light (or light sensor?). Does anyone know what this is a part of? I will eventually take the tank off, but hope to own the bike at least a week before I do that. http://sperko.net/files/little_light.jpg Thank yo...

Too late.
It was a fun 100 mile ride home. Unfortunately I had to go right to help a friend move. Now I am home and beat. More riding tomorrow.

Re: Black pipes - too hot?
Thank you, I pick it up Saturday. They pulled the recalls and it turns out the dealership I am buying from did the services. They performed it's 18k and I had him double check the tread on the tires, he says it looks about 70%, bad pic I guess. He thinks the wire looks like something for communicati...

Re: My spline shaft failed today
I read one post that indicated the splines could be checked by removing the starter, is that the quickest, most efficient way? Is it even possible that way? I have a bike on hold, should I pay to have the splines checked before I buy it? It has 17k miles. I am buying a BMW so that I can have a relia...

Re: Black pipes - too hot?
I enlarged the picture and it appears that the PO had attempted to polish the pipes on more than one ocassion, dulling the appearance, from the angle it also apears that the rear tire might need replacement. If it is a BMW dealer ask them to pull the recalls on the bike, if it is also the servicing...

Re: Black pipes - too hot?
Thank you, I am chock-full of ignorance on these bikes. I put a deposit on it today. I wont be able to pick it up for over a week due to my insane schedule. If anyone sees any concerns from the picture (besides scratched valve cover) please let me know.

Here is what it looks like:

Thank you for any input on this. It actually has 17k, I was mistaken.
