Re: Handle Bar Move Back 3.5", CABLES =Whats NEEDED
I moved back mine some 2" to 2.5" without changing any cables/lines, with a bit of room to spare. You may want to try moving them back 3.5" before buying anything but at that distance, all bets are off.

Re: Y-pipe, and long storage concerns,
I'm not sure you'll save much on weight by changing into a y-pipe. The cat chamber is really nothing but an empty chamber. At least this is what I saw on my 1100GS (but the 1150 is very similar). You'll probably save more changing your 11-lb battery into a lithium type. Besides, changing to a y-pipe...

Re: Cleaning under the tank 1150R
I hear you guys! I was actually more worried about water getting into tiny vents (not sure if the 1150 has this but my 1200 does) of the ABS electronics module. With water ingress, it will take forever to dry by itself. Much longer than for the water to do real damage on the electronics. Maybe I'll ...

You bring up a good point. Getting stuck on the road 4-5x more often on a dead battery is no fun.Buckster wrote:I would be interested if they last. I don't care if I can afford to replace it 5 times if that's all it's going to last. I wouldn't want to always be wondering when it was going to go on me.

Cleaning under the tank 1150R
A kind of ridiculous question... PO wasn't very attentive to this bike so after removing the tank, it looks like it has never been cleaned in the past century. I really feel like dumping lots of soapy water and spraying streams of water on it. Is there a real danger of doing so? The ABS stuff and el...

I replaced my 6-year-old Odyssey PC-680 with this: ML18-12 - 12V 18AH M6/T6 Audio System Battery Replaces Odyssey PC680 - Mighty Max Battery brand product. which was only $34.99 with free shipping from Amazon and it arrived in under 4 days (not Prime). It fits perfect and works fine. I think you ca...

Re: 2003 R1150R vibration at higher rpms
As for your battery, here are a few links for generic AGM batteries . I've been using these for years, with the incessant heat here in Phoenix, even Optima batteries only last as long as these generics . http://www.staabbattery.com/product/UB12220-V.html http://www.gruberpower.com/12-volt-18-amp-ho...

Re: 2003 R1150R vibration at higher rpms
If it's twin spark, then you have stick coils. The single spark models do not. Someone else could chime in on how to check them. There are other posts regarding how to do this. I have the single spark. I would do a search. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I haven't owned the R for long (previously ow...

Re: 03 1150R clock stopped running
Actually I realized (bad memory) that the only way to adjust the clock is to press the button. And it needs to be connected to power to do this. Turning doesn't help or make the adjustment any faster. If you're off by a lot and too lazy, just remove the fuse and let time go past its current reading....

Re: 03 1150R clock stopped running
If the fuse checks OK, you may have a broken wire in the harness, around the steering head . It's a common issue with these bikes to have broken wires in this area, as they were too tightly secured from the factory . Thanks too for your reply. I was really hoping that it isn't a break in the wire. ...

just check fuse # 3 "clock and power socket" can also check the powerlet on the side. if its out.... FUSE. This happened to mine, the day I bought it. Conceivably happened when I came to test ride. It had been on the dealers charger for awhile....connected through that socket. YES!! My po...

03 1150R clock stopped running
Removed the clock from dash and hooked it up to another 12V source and it works. All dash lights (including clock light) work. No voltage detected using a multimeter at the clock terminals. I know there should be current there even with ignition off. I doubt it but is there a fuse solely for the clo...

Re: 2003 R1150R vibration at higher rpms
Thank you all for your comments! I will surely do a grass roots approach to this issue by re-inspecting the valves, coils, give a thorough cleaning to the TBs and check the injectors. So the burning question is... how does one test the stick coils on the shelf using a multimeter? On idle speed or su...

Re: 2003 R1150R vibration at higher rpms
Mine is a dual spark model.
I doubt about driveline issues. I did the simple checking for play at the rear wheel and everything feels tight. I wouldn't know how else to test.

2003 R1150R vibration at higher rpms
Hello guys. Bike has only 27K miles on the clock. Engine is dead-smooth up to 3K rpm until a slight vibration starts setting-in as I further raise the rpms. I have balanced the cables up to almost 4.5K rpm using a Harmonizer but the vibration persists. A buddy suggests that the throttle plates may n...
