Re: R1200 Water Cooled

[As for the wethead R, I guess I'd have to see it to make a call. It's hard to believe that anything could be prettier than the current R, and the comfort of knowing my engine is the culmination of 100 years of refinement is certainly a plus.] I really like the ,"Knowing my engine is the culmin...

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

MT Beemer, I really like the look of your bike with the after market panniers. Do you have any pictures of your bike with the panniers off? I was wondering what it looked like with the after market pannier frame. The reason I haven't gone with the Zega Pro panniers is that the BMW panniers go on and...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

I just thought I'd mention that I discovered that I could make my new screen quieter by getting a quieter helmet. When I rode with the 18" screen I had to drop the helmet shield down at around 35 mph, because my eyes watered up so bad. While riding with the new gen2 21" I don't have that p...

Re: fine-tuning the new Cee Bailey's screen

I finally was able to get my bike out of the snow and ice drive-way, where I live, to go on my first ride of the year and try out my new Cee Bailey screen. I'm almost as tall as Don Eilenberger, ( I'm 5' 6.5" though I'm sure I was taller in high school). I ride with the low seat and I don't fla...

Dorian, I'm not sure what color your bike is, but I was told that the black ones were the fastest.

Re: Bike won't start

I had that problem Stef with my 2010. After many attemps to get it started it finally fired up and I took it into the dealer. They couldn't point to anything specific, but they reset the computer and it hasn't missed a beat since.

Re: Seeking Don's wisdom.

My two cents worth. Since it is a new bike why do you want to fool with it. Bring it back to the dealer and if they are unable to fix it ask for a new bike. Red Baron My two cents worth. Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. No start in my case was with no turn over. The cluster did its dance and then when it would fire it was instant as in strong battery.

Seeking Don's wisdom.

After my new 2010, 1950 miles, bike sits for a few days it doesn't always start on the first try. Sometimes I would have to turn it on and off a few times and then it would start and run fine and start every time on first try the rest of the day. Today it wouldn't start for about 10 tries, also the ...

Re: anybody got a tourarech tank bag on their r1200r?

I also have that bag, from The Streetline. I like how it looks, and how easy it is to take on and off at the gas jumps, but found that it isn't to kind to the paint were it sits, marred the finish. I have the BMW tank bag on my 650 and think it is better designed. I was wondering what the BMW bag is...

Re: Progressive Insurance ! ... my "good morning" surprise...

After reseaching different companies I went with Geico also. The R1200R was $359.00 and the F650GS was $151.00 full coverage and $250 deductable. Insuring a bike in Alaska wound naturally be cheaper than in California, but the point is that Geico offered the best coverage for less dollars than anyon...

Re: Electric Vest

I have the Kanetsu vest and I don't leave home without it considering if you're going 60 mph and the temp is 50 degrees F the wind chill factor would be 39 degrees and the vest makes that feel so much better.

Yes Ashveratu, they are almost identical; the Touratects may be a little fancier. I would of posted a picture, but I haven't figured that out as of yet. As far the seat goes, I so far really like the stock low seat, if I have a change of heart I'll have get a review from you about the Sargeat low se...

Offset handle bar risers

I'm 5'6" and felt that I was putting to much weight on my arms as I rode due to a slight forward lean. I decided to try the offset handle bar risers from Touratech. It took me maybe ten minutes to put the risers on today. I didn't have to mess with the cables, everything fit like a glove. Befor...

Re: test riding

Thanks for the report Stef., I will repeat your test ride vicariously. I felt that the RR was the best choice for myself also, though I wondered about the RT. I've only put 350 miles on mine so far, still a little cool here in Alaska. I did notice this morning that my temperature reading on the comp...
