Brake fluid weeping - front caliper bleed screws
After completing the ABS service, carefully following the great guide posted on this forum, all seems ok apart from some slight fluid weeping at the base of both front brake caliper nipples. I did not use a torque wrench (9nm) and am pretty sure they were not over (or under) tightened, so what have ...

Re: Plastic fuel regulator pipe to injector hose damaged
Here is the before image (no idea why there is only one quick disconnect, work of the previous owner)... http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-814pf4rvTCo/UgyO6-Wo1WI/AAAAAAAAAAo/7DSEYYOYCeg/s720/fuel%20lines%201.JPG Now with hose removed and cut shown in plastic connector pipe, which extends slightly b...

Plastic fuel regulator pipe to injector hose damaged
When replacing one of the short rubber fuel injector hoses (the lower one that joins to the plastic tube from the regulator) I managed to cut into the plastic just the other side of the copper insert - if that makes sense.... It looks like replacing the plastic tube could be a whole load of work and...

Re: OIL SIGHT GLASS LEAKING
By the way, I called my local BMW and asked for a price on a full-monty, do-everything service for the 1150R....... £613 or $881 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Sh*t. Wow ! Who was the local dealer ? I need a similar 'do-everything' service, have asked North Oxford BMW to quote but no resp...

Re: Keep stalling it in first. @#$!!!
I found this a couple of times when the bike was cold. Just kept the 'choke' lever up for the first couple of miles. :) Me too, but after stalling the bike refuses to start - not good when you are blocking traffic onto a roundabout and have to push it to the side of the road ! Eventually found that...

Re: Baglux/Bagster Tank Cover
What's a good online place to get them? Cheers Not sure if they ship to Singapore, but I've just ordered one from here..... http://www.motorcycleheaven.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=75 15% discount at the moment, still not cheap but hopefully no more scratches/chips on the fuel tank :)

Re: Baglux/Bagster Tank Cover
I have one on my Rockster. Cover itself is fairly easy to fit, and fills the little gaps between sea/tank and oil-cooler-cover/tank very nicely. I only ever use a "City" bag on in it (the smallest) and it doesn't get in the way at all. Thanks riceburner, guess you need to remove the oil c...

Baglux/Bagster Tank Cover
Does anyone have one of these on their R and was it easy to fit ? Also, when the tank bag is connected does it affect your riding position (get in the way/is uncomfortable - as the fuel tank itself seems quite high anyway) ? I have a couple of Baglux tank bags from other bikes, so would be good make...

Re: Changing Pannier locks
Do replacement locks also include the metal plate that turns (with the key) which then prevents the handle moving ?
One of my recently purchased panniers has a broken plate, otherwise the lock seems to function as normal...

Re: MRA screens
I was just about to go for the smaller Vario screen, especially as it uses the existing BMW flyscreen mounts, but now I'm not so sure based on some of the feedback above. I'm 6'2" and was looking for less buffeting (and noise) on the crash helmet......and I hate wearing earplugs ! Also want to ...

Here's your man, fazer1k: http://www.bgmbmw.co.uk/ He'll be doing mine. Naturally he's very busy but comes very highly recommended. (£58/hr inc.) Has all the BMW diagnostic gear and is a nice bloke too! He's in Pembury near Tunbridge Wells. Thanks Jeffers, will put him on the list, only problem is ...

Re: R1150GS Panniers on a R1150R ?
Managed to get hold of a couple of good panniers at a great price, however the lock is broken on one of them. It's the plate that turns around with the key which then prevents the handle from moving/opening.....I guess replacement parts are available to repair ?

Slippery Seat !
I'm very happy with my 'new' R1150R but find I'm sliding around on the saddle as there is no grip from the seat material - is this normal ?
It's the stock saddle by the way.

Thanks for the quick reply Mike, looks like I can now safely place a bid....MikeCam wrote:They are a straight interchangeable fit. Frame and pipe location are identical.
The RT/RS will also once the pipe is lowered and the foot extended. This gives you the full size both sides.
Cheers

Are the GS panniers the same design/model and will they fit without any problems on the R1150R ?
Thanks

Re: New owner in the UK
Thanks for the link and welcome, much appreciated. The 'Steptoes' head guards certainly look substantial, as is the price at £135 ($190) ! Could be money well spent though of course.... The bike I'm collecting will probably need a service (major I would think) soon, what kind of rates are UK BMW mai...

New owner in the UK
Hi there, picking up a late 2003 R1150R next week and really looking forward to it :D It seems to have most of the usual additions (rack, screen, hand guards, rack etc) apart from rocker cover guards, only place that seems to sell these are Motorworks, anyone know of anywhere else this side of the p...
