That looks very promising -- good luck with the test ride(s)!

Someone got up on the right side of the bed!
Heated grips are very nice, even if your winters aren't cold. ABS is a must (at least for me), and the rest is all jazz.
Good luck with your quest!

Re: Windshield Bracket - II..
. . . Now Mad Stad has gotten two emails. :-k I like the idea. Robert OK, make that three e-mails! I just sent Mark an e-mail this morning. He is great with customer service. When I bought a bracket from him for the V-Strom, there was a small grommet thingy missing. I sent him an e-mail, on a Satur...

Re: Windshield Bracket - II..
It would be great to see Madstad make a bracket for our bikes. I had a Madstad bracket on my V-strom and it made a huge difference, reducing high-speed (actually anything more than 55-60) buffeting from potentially dangerous to merely annoying. The ability to raise and lower as well as vary the angl...

Action shots.....like the R scraping the cyl head on a high speed sweeper, or two wheels off the ground from a high speed elevation change, wheelies, stoppies, or loaded for long trip, maybe custom paint jobs, or maybe with really good looking people posing with it...sexy but tasteful....like our b...

Re: Choosing the best windshield...whats the best out there now?
[ I'm really surprised that you are having buffeting and dirty air with your Sport Screen. The reason I say this is that I am a lofty 5'7' on a good day with a whooping 30" inseam. My bike has a Rick Mayer seat on it which is taller than stock, and my helmet is in pure, clean air with the Spor...

Re: Choosing the best windshield...whats the best out there now?
The OP's question is one that I've been wondering about too, particularly whether there are any short screens that attach to the factory sport shield bracket. Celticus (Mark) posted a link in another thread to a German site that has some intriguing screens, and even more intriguing (albeit near-inco...

Re: fuel mileage decrease
Dirty air filter? throttle sync? fouled plugs? low tire pressure? new windshield? excess friction (e.g., wheel bearings, brakes dragging, etc.)? massive weight gain? ; } FWIW, my '07, during the 2,000 miles I've ridden since December, is consistently averaging 43 mpg tank after tank on CA 91 octane....

Sounds like it's working out well for you. Do you mind sharing your height and inseam, so folks can get some idea of how your experience might relate to their dimensions? Thanks!

Re: Buffeting begone!
The bag fits the tank well with the magnets. I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure out the straps because it appeared at first glance that there isn't a good spot on the R12R's unconventional front end to wrap the front strap around the steering post. The magnets are quite strong and the bag...

Yes, that's the one. I think the hydration setup shown in the photo is an an optional accessory, though. Also, it comes with a see-through plastic map pocket that fits over the top of the pack.

Buffeting begone!
Who wouldda thunk that a tank bag would clean up the air flow on an r12r with the factory sport screen? I have had some buffeting and helmet noise above 50, but mostly ignored it other than experimenting with different ear plugs. Today I pulled my tank bag off the shelf in the garage and packed a co...

Re: R1200R Being Discontinued
In light of the thread on how long people keep BMWs (http://www.r1150r.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19519), I personally can't get too worked up about it if the last one rolls out of Berlin tomorrow. These aren't exactly dispos-a-bikes! I'm way too late getting started to match Harry Costello ...

Re: Hello from SoCal!
I'm definitely enjoying the bike! As a novice rider (5,000 miles), I'm a bit surprised each time I ride a different bike at just how DIFFERENT they can be, even beyond the obvious or expected differences based on type. For example, I went to the BMW dealer to test the F800ST and the R. On paper, I t...

Re: Hello from SoCal!
Thanks for the welcome and the tips! Tire pressures were set by the dealer on the high side -- 36F and 42R IIRC, or maybe 38F. I've been watching pressure and letting it drop slowly to see how it feels at the low end of the range. Peter, you are right on target re: throttle and clutch control. One o...

Hello from SoCal!
Greetings all. I have been lurking and learning for a month or so since picking up an '07 R12R (black w/white pinstripe, ABS, OBC, sport screen, heated grips, center stand and side cases). It's a great bike, and in many ways quite a step up from my previous rides -- an '08 Ninja 250 (my training whe...
