Re: Gonna Keep This Bike........
Unpredictable or clunky shifting can be the clutch adjustment. Too late to make a difference in your case, but going through the steps to adjust it could have solved your one issue. I own a Rockster which is a touch taller in the seat than the R model. At 6 foot and with relatively short legs, 32 i...

Re: Gonna Keep This Bike........Not
Well guys, Went riding a few days ago and I got very frustrated...again...with my R-bike. The main issues are still the clunky unpredictable shifting and seat height issues. Really, some days it's fine and others, I feel like a novice just learning to ride. It just isn't much fun most of the time. I...

As with any other bike of this type, look for maintenance over anything else.
Thanks for the tip.

Advice....Looking at a 1999 R1100S
Hello, I have done some searching here on the forum and can't find much on the R1100S. I have an 2002 R1150 with ABS. I am looking at a nice 1999 R1100S without ABS. I am going to look at it on Friday. I'll be keeping the 1150R and not looking for a world beater sport bike, just something a little m...

Gonna Keep This Bike........
Hello, I think I finally have my '02 R1150R about the way I want it. Spent a few hours in the saddle today...and this is one nice bike. I have to say, I honestly did have doubts about keeping this bike. To begin with, the seat was too high, got the low seat. Still too high.......Recovered the low se...

Fernheath,
For reference, here is a pic of my bike with the touring windscreen. I have the mirrors like wncbmw. They came with the bike, so I never knew they were not original.

Re: Hello from a new member.
Hello Monty, I have a 2002 with ABS. I've had it about three years. It is a very nice bike. I have not had the surging problems with mine that some have. This forum is a very good place for information of all types on the R1150R. There may seem to be a lot issues and problems discussed, but there ar...

Re: NEW OWNER, seat height?
Well yes, with the pictures in mind I did look at the seat. It is obvious. Mine is the tall (thickish) and I was surprised. Nearly 6 inches instead of three shown in the photo for the low seat. Chiding due. No chiding intended. From the replies, I was just beginning to wonder if anyone looked at th...

Re: NEW OWNER, seat height?
I don't suppose the seats are labeled as to which they are... Be nice to know for sure what I'm starting with. More loft might be good! Look at the pictures. Look at your seat. You ought to be able to figure out which one you have. A Wider aftermarket seat will make a difference, too. Wider equals ...

Re: NEW OWNER, seat height?
Greetings fellow riders, anxious to pick up a 2004 R1150R Tuesday, a bit concerned regarding seat height. specifications show about 31.1 inches. It has a R. Mayer saddle and Wilbers''s shocks, front and rear. I suspect these lower the stance some? I am 5' 8" with a 30 inch inseam. Comments Ple...

Re: Windshield Mounts
Yeah..... I have used one of the blue locktites on another motorcycle application and it really didn't seem to hold up that well. I saw this red one at a local hardware store and it said it was permanent . What I was wondering is What do I do if I ever need to take it apart? I don't think heating w...

Hello, It is the BMW touring windshield. Go to the link below and then to the "show albums....." on the left hand side. Then to photos and videos. One of the pics shows the mounting bolt setup. Used red loctite on the lower threaded ones on the bottom. Anyone have any experience with the r...

Re: Painting your sun faded air box
I use "Black Magic" on the black plastic parts on my bike. It works better and lasts longer than Amor-all. I even used it on my City Bags after scrubbing them down with SOS pads. Had to apply several times and let it sit over night each time, but they came out pretty good. See pics posted ...

Windshield Mounts
Well, I got the windshield mounted with the 1/4" stainless screws and it is solid. One problem though, even after grinding off the round mounting flat on the back side, the nylon locknuts stick out too far and hit the mini headlight nacel. It is not really a functional problem, but the nut rubb...

Re: Hello........almost ready to rock and roll
Thanks for the comments and advice. I have wondered why BMW used the well nuts, in the first place. Just like I have wondered why they used the plastic disconnects. I did a youtube search on well nuts, I see that they are used on Harley fairings and canoe anchor/paddle mounts. I have to tell you all...

Hello........almost ready to rock and roll
Been a while since I visited this forum. Been busy with other stuff and haven’t ridden much, lately. Now that it’s getting cold, naturally, I have the time to get my '02 R-bike cleaned up and ready to roll. First, had to replace the fuel disconnects. Lucky I wasn’t very far from home when they went....
