Rockster real wheel spacer?

Hi, took my rear wheel off to get a new rear tyre fitted using the Haynes manual as a guide. The Haynes manual refers to a 'spacer plate' which I did not find. Is this because the Haynes manual refers to other models as well or has a previous owner not replaced the spacer plate? Bike seems to run fi...

What are those big brass screws really for?

I thought the big brass screws on the throttle bodies were to adjust the idle? My 2003 rockster was serviced about 6 months ago and was running fine. I used it last week and noticed that the idle had dropped to about 700 rpm. Before I put it away in the garage turned both BBS's outwards to give an i...

Re: Replacement Rockster front fender / mudguard

Thanks i'll look out for an R1100 S one. I live about 1/2 mile off the main road down a gravlled lane where the stones are upto 25mm across. Tyres are standard road tyres , not knobblies, which you would have thought would not pick up big stones. But the stones are sharp and angular so they could ge...

Replacement Rockster front fender / mudguard

Front fender / mudguard on my Rockster is broken again! I think the tyre tread picks up stones and then crushes the fender from the underside, as there is only a few mm clearance, and pops the top surface. Done it twice now. Does any one know if any firm does a replacement mudguard / fender? At over...

"Volvo Deep Blue Metalic" is an almost perfect match for £4.95 a can from Halfords. Worked for me!

Re: Can a battery tender cope with two batteries?

Thanks every body for the advice. Looks as though some wire and crocodile clips should sort me out. Special thanks to CycleRob for the diagram that even I can follow.

Can a battery tender cope with two batteries?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question but can a battery tender be wired up to two or more batteries? In the garage i have got two bikes and a lawn mower and due to not much use over the winter I am rotating on a weekly cycle my Oxford Optimiser battery tender between the three batteries. Could I jus...

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Boxermania, bit of an update. Ordered up a stick coil (£60 plus postage from BMW Motorworks –nice people) and when it arrived took out the old ones. Well it was pretty obvious to me which was the duff one - as you know I am very highly competent with all things mechanical. One of them looked quite n...

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Looks like I will be replacing the stick coils then - is this a big job or just a 'plug in' exercise? With 4 spark plugs do I have 4 coils to replace? Sorry about the numpty questions not as handy with the spanners as i should be!

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Boxermania, sorry for the delay in the update but TTS took ages to sort it out and I have been away on work but I collected the bike yesterday. TTS fiddled around with the bike for some time on their dyno and decided that the Power Commander was not working properly so fitted a new one. However even...

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Boxermania, bit of an update: TTS have had it apart and have discovered that it does indeed have a Power Commander fitted - it was right underneath the tank. Tou were right all along. They have had it up on the Dyno and downloaded various Maps from Power Commander but they are not sure what is up as...

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Thanks Boxermania - you too know your sparks! I only bought the bike a month ago and since I have had it done nothing to it. I test rode it at the time and it ran fine and indeed has run well since. It was only when I had used two tanks of petrol that I realised all was perhaps not as it should be. ...

Re: Only getting 30-35mpg - what should I check?

Thanks Boxermania- have had the seats off and no "fuel nannys" there but evidence of wiring changes. Have put some photos up at: http://photobucket.com/college-07 They show: Some one has at some time spliced into the airbox sensor, unconnected red wire near fuse box, evidence of a cut eart...
