Re: Buzzing clock

I also had the terrible buzzing (especially on deceleration) in the 3-4K range on my 04 R1150R. I had read about the clock being a source of buzzing for some, but felt that the problem was somewhere else because if I grabbed onto the clock while the buzz was present, the buzzing continued. With the ...

Re: R1150R Front Fender Replacement

Speaking of fenders, does anyone know which fender is on this R1150R on the Wunderlich site? http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=WA&Category_Code=R1150R It does not seem to be the Wunderlich carbon fiber fender, the K1200RS or the R1150RS (but close). Any...

Re: Removing rear windshield bracket allen head bolts

A timely post. I took the bike out today and noticed the windshield shaking a bit on the right side. At then next traffic light I inspected the mount and the rear attachment point was loose. It looked like it was going to be tough to get at in order to tighten the allen bolt, but now I know what to ...

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust--Yes or No?

I know, as my Rockster's Ztechnik aftermarket exhaust (includes y-pipe and muffler) is louder and more obnoxious than the sans silencer mode that Mrs. Sweatmark used for a couple years on her R1150R Roadster. The Ztechnik saves a bunch of weight over the OE catalytic collector and muffler combinati...

Re: Today is National Lube Your Shifter Day

The oil-soaked rubber donut-shaped seals that keep dirt and moisture out of the ball & socket joints of the shift linkage tend to deteriorate and fall off after a few years. I recently replaced mine when servicing the linkage. They are a bit tricky to get on, but seem like a good thing to have i...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU

I'm not sure how much valve timing overlap there is on the 1150R (period where both intake & exhaust valves are partially open at the same time for scavenging effect around TDC - end of exhaust & beginning of intake strokes), but my 911 (also a boxer as noted above) has a cam with bit of ove...

Re: question about my lamp check system?

I have an 04 R1150R as well and was planning on ordering the Tailblazer. Page 63 of the "Rider's Manual - US" states: "General warning light 3 lights up if the BMW Integral ABS develops a fault, or if the tail light or brake light is inoperative" (the General Warning Light is the...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU

frankc For those familiar with the automotive CIS sytem, they were the first designs to comply with environmental requirements and as such fairly elemental. Interestingly enough, the Porsche 911 CIS systems of the late 70's were notorious for having ignition in the plenums during cold starts which ...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU

Hm. Both injectors fire simultaneously? I've seen this before, and wondered about it then... Yes, it would be much better to have the injectors timed to the cam rather than the crank, but at least it's a huge improvement over Bosch's early CIS system. CIS=Continuous Injection System, that's right, ...

Replace Spark Plugs at 12K Mile Service?

Hello, I was reviewing the work performed on my 2004 RR (recently purchased) during its 12K Mile (20K km) inspection and noticed something odd. On the Inspection check-off form, I can see that the spark plugs were not replaced and that there is a note there that says "every 60,000 km". How...

Re: Problem installing Kisan headlight modulator

I was just about to order one of these as well. So for an '04 R1150R, should I order the P115W or the P115W-S? When I enter a 2004 R1150R into Kisan's application form, it lists the P115W as the correct part, but also states: " the year you have entered doesn't correspond with the make and mode...

Re: Getting a new bike home from 250 miles away

I don't know if you have this option available in England, but I recently purchased my R1150R from a member who lived in Houston, and I had to get it back home to Austin (about a 200 mile trip). I discovered that U-Haul rents a motorcycle trailer for only $20/day that was perfect for the job. All yo...
