Runnin' Real Rough!

Just breaking her in with 200 miles on the clock. Bike shudders through low speed maneuvers and throttle settings, and at 6000 rpm runs real rough. I don't think the 7.0 update's been done yet, which I was planning on having done at 600 mile service. Anyone else with similar experiences?

Just Bought a New K1200R!

My name's John and I'm new posting to this forum, having just picked up this red and white beauty. I live in Sacramento, CA and my last bike was an '04 Ferro Blue R1150R. I apologize for cell phone picture quality. Better pics to follow. The custom paint job was added to the list of options at the d...

Which Wheels?

I can get a good deal on an '06 KR, depending on which options and wheels I want from units he has on the floor. I really like the swirl type wheel with the 190 section rear tire more than the star-shaped wheel. Will I notice any real difference in every day, freeway riding between a 190 and 180? I ...

New or Used?

At 230 lbs the rear suspension may feel softish to you. Check that preload travel will give you sufficient ride height. Sometimes hydraulic fluid in preload circuit must be topped up to provide full preload range. An aftermarket shock and shorter GS paralever torque arm may be your only salvation. F...

Dropped!

Last Friday. In Santa Cruz. On an uphill driveway that dropped off to the right. It didn't feel like anything unusual at first until the bike went past the halfway point. I couldn't believe that it had gone that far and I didn't panic until I relized that it was going to fall on my leg so I tried to...

Good Thing...

This superhero doesn't wear a cape! Remember E-tickets for the scary rides at Disneyland? "Please keep your hands inside the ride at all times." When I split lanes I am so careful not to be sideswiped...okay, scared, so I mostly do it while cars are stopped. I guess our rider lacks "i...

With 7000 miles on the clock, I guess it's time for me to change fork fluid while I install new caps.

Thank you!

Seems easy enough if you have the equipment, or a friend or shop with a welder.

Which Headlight Bulb?

My PIAA H4 bulb burned out, so I have to replace it. Question: has anyone installed the PIAA Super Plasma GTX bulb? How about HID?

Catalyzer Element Removal...

Speaking of removing items exhaust-related, has anyone opened up the cat and removed the cylindrical catalyst element. I wonder how the sound and low-end might improve, given the baffling effect of the chamber?

Scared...

I'm scared to bob my exhaust, like the first time I shaved my head clean. Oh, someone hold my hand while I do this for moral comfort. Anyway, I wish someone could post a sound file to hear what your can-less exhausts sound like now. Did any of you require the fitment of new exhaust gaskets?

Powerflow or Borla?

Just picked up a dual resonator tip to screw on after can removal, but single slash cut looks better.

I remember seeing roadster pics on board with dual underseat exhaust, a la R1100S. Too bad I couldn't go to a local muffler shop and have a pipe routed to a can underneath.

Does the remaining pipe accept a 1 3/4 in. diameter tip after can removal? Will the bike run leaner, in terms of fuel ratio? (Yes, I know it will be leaner in terms of porkiness.) I was thinking of removing can and opening cat and removing catalyst element. Then I could richen the fuel mixture using...

I've read on this board in the past that the stock shock should provide between 12,000 and 18,000 miles of sevice.

Brought stock rear shock to Jim Lindemann in Campbell, CA. I didn't like the soft-ish feel and low preload/ride height, so he revalved and installed a 1300 lb spring and converted to nitrogen charged with Schrader valve on shock body. Then I replaced rubber line from preload reservoir to shock body ...

Had Michelin Pilot Power Tires Installed...

after I removed one wheel at a time. The rear I did first. Just remove brake caliper and she comes off easy! I'm picking up front wheel today with tire installed. Rear wheel is on bike with new tire. I have bike parked on street with rear tire against curb. Since the road crown slopes down to the gu...
