Any of the petro based chemicals mentioned above need to be used outside! I have had chemical pneumonia from that stuff in the past. Another useful product (used outside) is good old oven cleaner. Just let it sit for awhile and clean off. It will take several applications if the stuff on the pipe is...

I use the Garmin GPSMAP 378 with the XM radio acessory. That combination coupled with the subscription weather service gives me a nearly real time display of weather superimposed on the road map. There is a cable to the bike for power and if I wish to listen to tunes, I can plug in ear plug speakers...

I had a similar experience after the 600 mile service on the R1200C. The engine just suddenly quit in the middle of a downhill switchback. Nearly dumped it. After getting a ride form a member of the group to the local H-D dealer,I got a ride home to fetch truck and hoist to take bike 50 miles each w...

I think I can speak from some experience. I returned to the BMW fold after a long hiatus from a R90S in 1975. I purchased a new (never titled) 2004 R1200C in January 2005. It was actually built 10/2003. I have enjoyed the ride and the unique sound from the engine. This forum (http://www.chromeheads....

I purchased the Hawk Talon Falcon for short legs. I then mounted a set of H-D footpegs with H-D mounting hardware. Virtually a no brainer exercise except there is a left and right piece. I needed the practice re-installing. Also, a good torque wrench is useful to keep from over tightening the bolts....

Group patch
I also ride a R1200C and that model has a forum called "Chromeheads" for obvious reasons. This group (R1150R) is very active from the volume of posts I have been reading. I was curious if anyone had thought about an ID patch so when seeing another rider at some other event, we could determ...

I was at home in the driveway and put the left foot down. I was at the edge of the drive and it slipped off into gravel. A slow motion fall did not mark the bike. However, my backside had the opportunity to get into a cactus, whose thorns went through the leather jacket as if it was not there. I thi...

Last month I purchased a 2004 R1150R with 3,632 miles on it. It had been in service about 14 months. I wanted a clean slate: Replaced both tires with new metzler tires Replaced front and rear brake pads Flushed brake and clutch lines and new fluid Changed all oils - engine, transmission, rear end an...

When the first 600 mile service was done on my R1200C, the mechanic had the fuel tank off the bike. It turns out, he did not make sure the power plug to the fuel pump was properly seated. I found that out going down mountain in a tightening right hand turn and the motor stopped cold. The bike got to...
